Don't be fooled into thinking just because lots of papers are published on a topic, it must be "right". You have to look at the data. Most published research is done under the lamppost, studying what's popular, easy, or fundable. # of Pubmed hits does not equal truth
@tyler Agree 100%.
From this article:
… this new economic activity may come to dwarf the size of the current economy, yielding tremendous opportunity”

@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Benefits to SusTech:
They are able to sell their product internationally to customers who likely wouldn't take a risk on them without a rock solid refund method.
If you'd like to take a look at NFT contract code that does exactly this send me a DM.
5/5
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Benefits to me:
I was able to try out a product from a vendor that could be a scam with full confidence that the money back guarantee would be honored (because it was implemented on-chain).
4/N
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Actually Blockchain adds capabilities that never existed before. It provides trustless *guarantees* to *both* seller and buyer.
In the legacy method the seller is always taking a risk sending their software for free to someone that may or may not pay.
This is new.
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Besides, you retreated quickly from "Blockchain has no possible benefits" to "I like the old way better".
Can you imagine that there might be some people who legitimately like the new way better?
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta The risk in the old method is that you might provide your software to a hacker (for free).
In the new method you filter out the hackers who can't put up the $4,500 in earnest money up front. A small but non-zero improvement over the old method.
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Actually, there are 100s of benefits that can now be built on top of the framework I described (self-service upgrade of your NFT license. Transfer your license to another party easily, etc)
You asked for an existence prove of at least 1 benefit and I gave you one.
@andyo@tomkparker@tyler@realmargaretta Thank you! 👍
I think it's reasonable to be skeptical, but I also believe that there is real opportunity for benefits to be realized from this tech. Happy to hop on a zoom with you some time and discuss in more depth.
1/ Blockchains — decentralized and permissionless ones — will ultimately allow orders of magnitude more business to happen in the world.
