@Afinetheorem How does a normie know that it isn’t polluting? It’s completely new tech from far away to most. 5 years ago it was solar farms next to homes in our town. At least fracking has created good-paying jobs for years here (and I’m a huge YIMBY abundo loser too!)
Now the new in vogue stuff isn’t solar, it’s data centers. Everyone here knows someone making a good living on fracking, so we allowed that. What benefit do we get from solar or data centers 10 years from now?
Here in Western PA, solar companies tore down forest for private projects from unknown companies based in TX, FL, etc. Why would normal working people here just acquiesce to random out-of-staters making money with zero concrete benefit to us?
@Afinetheorem Here in Western PA they’re building a natural gas plant to attach to it as part of the project, which is what is scaring people. Also it’s unclear to normies if there will be any long term jobs or what taxes they’ll pay - even as an abundance guy myself, I get the pushback
I have been consistent on this. We need to literally militarized the police no unions. We don't have military unions. They need professional standards. They need non-judicial punishment so we don't have to worry about these boards.
I don't know what parts of the Sam Kriss take on Arday and higher ed that I agree with (some of it? all of it?) but it's so devastating as a piece of writing that agreement feels largely besides the point. What an essay.
Are we ready yet for a conversation about how infrequently street sweepers actually go down the streets they’re scheduled to clean during street sweeping and how frequently NYPD goes down those unswept sweeps ticketing people?
You post this as a joke but one of my clients literally does this and you know what they have. They have community weekend events where they literally do this. They have a barbecue they do community service. This is extremely common, especially in the Midwest.
NEW: Politico knew at the time of publication precisely what Jenny Racicot texted to Graham Platner but deliberately omitted it from their article. Racicot, according to the lead Politico reporter on the story, told Platner she “needed her glute massaged.” He told her he was coming right over; she responded by telling him not to do so, but he came over quickly.
Whether this detail is important to you or not, it is a shocking breach of journalistic ethics by Politico and CNN not to include it in their coverage. Story at Drop Site to follow.
