There's a misconception about teamwork. Teamwork is the ability to have different thoughts about things; it's the ability to argue and stand up and say loud and strong what you feel. But in the end, it's also the ability to adjust to what is the best for the team. – Tom Landry
Does distance running make you lose speed?
If you are losing speed to a large degree during training, it’s not the long aerobic work that is doing it, it’s that your training sucks.https://t.co/C6CvqyUZzn
1988 Rocori graduate David Oehrlein spent four seasons in the @Cardinals organization, making it as high as double-A Arkansas.

Stop trying to prove fitness, and start trying to do what is best to get you to the starting line fit, healthy, and ready to go.
The need to prove oneself comes from insecurity. It’s a lack of trust in the plan and the process. https://t.co/lEIfKVig6Z
What makes endurance athletes able to handle some of the ‘toughest’ challenges?
They are forced to work through difficult moments, not by grinding through, but by accepting.
As an 800m runner I would often do workouts 10x my race distance. THAT IS HOW YOU BUILD STRENGTH! 8,000 meters worth of intervals will make any mid-distance runner stronger. Favorite options: 5x1mile off 2 min rest OR 8x1000m off 90 sec rest. Pick your poison!😝 #WorkoutWednesday
Training volumes and intensity distributions from my most successful college Cross-Country season.
Thanks to younger me taking 10-years of meticulous training data, I can now do some analysis:
A great overview of recent research on how the best in the world train. What correlated best to performance?
1. Total volume of training (.75 correlation)
2. Easy runs (.68)
3. Tempo runs (.58)
4. short intervals (.56)
5. Long intervals (.22)

Kara Goucher got 5th at the Boston Marathon in a PR.
All while her contract was still suspended for getting pregnant. She wasn't getting paid by her sponsor.
That's insane.
Actions tell you what a company and/or individual values.

Don't go into a race expecting to feel great; instead, realize and accept that it's going to hurt, it's going to be difficult. And that's alright. In fact, it will probably allow you to run faster in the end.
