World Cup referee Omar Artan has been denied entry to the USA, just three days before the tournament kicks off.

The Somali official was set to become the first-ever Somali referee to be the man in the middle at a FIFA World Cup.

Artan, 33, was elected the best African referee for 2025 by the Confederation of African Football and has officiated at Afcon.

Denied entry to the US, despite having a valid visa, he has now returned to Istanbul. #WorldCup

The USA have blocked the Somali Referee Omar Artan from entering the USA, the Referee who is rated the best in Africa was blocked at entry, so he got the Somalian embassy to give him a Diplomatic Passport.

But the USA still refuses to let him in.

🇸🇴 A días de que arranque el Mundial, al árbitro somalí Omar Abdulkadir Artan le habrían negado la entrada a EE.UU. por problemas de visado.

🤷🏻‍♂️ Quizá la FIFA debería replantearse en qué países organiza eventos de esta magnitud y prever que puedan acontecer situaciones así, según el país organizador sus libertade y/o restricciones.

✊🏻 Si hubiera unión, sus COMPAÑEROS del silbato deberían plantarse y no pitar ni un solo partido hasta que se solucione.
