My Response to the DG ISPR and the Violence in Balochistan

Lastday , the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) once again accused me of being a "proxy of terrorists", a serious and recurring allegation made without a single shred of credible evidence. This pattern of unsubstantiated claims has become a disturbing hallmark of the DG ISPR's public statements.

He further stated: "She (I) was the one who came seeking the dead bodies of the terrorists killed in the Jaffer Express hijacking incident. Who is she to seek the corpses?"

Let me be clear: that particular press conference was widely misused, fabricated, and taken out of context to distort my message During my press conference in March, I did not condone any act of violence. My only demand was transparency. I asked for the identities of unidentified individuals, beyond the twelve named militants, who were buried in the dead of night at Quetta's Kasi graveyard. These unidentified bodies deserve to be named, and their families have a fundamental right to know the fate of their loved ones. This demand is not only moral but a legal right in any civilized society.

For years, a disturbing pattern has emerged in Balochistan: following any violent incidents, law enforcement agencies have been involved in killing and secretly burying forcibly disappeared persons, later labeling them "militants." In the Jaffer Express case, the armed group responsible publicly released the names, photos, and details of the twelve men involved. Yet over two dozen bodies were brought to Civil Hospital Quetta. My question was: who were the others? Why were they buried in secrecy?

Once again, in response to the DG ISPR's latest accusations, I ask: where is the evidence? If Pakistan's intelligence and military institutions are as capable as they claim, why has no proof ever been presented against me?

My activism is peaceful, principled, and grounded in universal human rights values. I have consistently condemned violence, whether committed by non-state actors or the state itself. But Balochistan today is a landscape scarred by systemic repression, enforced disappearances, and a complete breakdown of justice and accountability. Rather than address these realities, the state chooses to vilify those who dare to speak the truth.

The international community must take note. The people of Balochistan deserve justice, not smear campaigns. They deserve answers, not threats. And above all, they deserve to live without fear.

Today, before the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s (BYC) planned sit-in could even begin, security forces launched a violent crackdown on protesters in Quetta. Police baton-charged demonstrators, opened fire, made mass arrests—including women and children—and used tear gas and shelling to disperse the crowd.

To sabotage the peaceful sit-in, police fired indiscriminately at protesters, severely injuring several. while another remains in critical condition. This escalation comes alongside ongoing arrests, brutal beatings, and a complete communication blackout. Meanwhile, search operations in Saryab continue, with security forces raiding homes and detaining more protesters.

Mobile networks and internet services remain suspended, and the whereabouts of those already arrested are still unknown.

The BYC had called for the sit-in to demand the release of its central committee member Bebarg, his brother Hammal, Dr. Ilyas, Baloch woman Saeeda, and several others who have been forcibly disappeared. Instead of addressing these demands, the state has responded with force, repression, and bloodshed.

بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی بہت جلد اس جابرانہ نظام کے خلاف اپنے آئندہ لائحۂ عمل کا اعلان کرے گی۔

لالا وہاب بلوچ، جو ہمارے بزرگ رہنما ہیں، پر تشدد، ان کی بلوچی ٹوپی کی بے حرمتی، اور گرفتاری کے بعد ان کا لاپتہ کیا جانا ہمارے وقار پر ایک سنگین حملہ ہے۔ ہماری خواتین کی چادریں کھینچنا، ان کی حرمت پامال کرنا بلوچ روایات اور اقدار پر کھلی جارحیت ہے۔

میرے بلوچ قوم! یہ وہ وقت ہے جب ہمیں اپنے آنسوؤں کو مزاحمت میں بدلنا ہوگا۔ یہ ظلم ہمیں توڑنے کے لیے نہیں، بلکہ ہمیں اپنے حقوق کے لیے مزید مضبوطی سے کھڑا ہونے کا سبق دے رہا ہے۔ ہم جانتے ہیں کہ یہ راستہ آسان نہیں، یہ سفر طویل اور کٹھن ہے، مگر جب ایک قوم اپنے حق کے لیے کھڑی ہو جائے تو اسے کوئی طاقت روک نہیں سکتی۔

آج کے اس ظلم کے باوجود ہمارے ارادے مضبوط ہیں، بلوچ خواتین کی مزاحمتی روح زندہ ہے، اور بلوچ قوم کی جدوجہد زندہ و جاوید ہے۔ ہم خاموش نہیں رہیں گے، ہم جھکیں گے نہیں، ہم لڑیں گے اور اپنے حق کو حاصل کر کے رہیں گے۔

یہ جدوجہد ہماری قوم کی بقاء اور روشن مستقبل کی جنگ ہے، اور اس میں کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں ہوگا۔

ہم نے ظالم اور جابر ڈکیٹرز ضیا الحق جنرل ایوب اور یحی اور جنرل ٹکا کا دور نہیں دیکھا ہے مگر انکے بارے میں پڑھا اور سنا ضرور ہے۔

شہید بی بی بے نظیر بھٹو کے وارثوں سے ہمیں ایسی امیدیں تو نہیں ہیں مگر گزشتہ تجربات اور موجودہ صورتحال اور رویے کو دیکھ کر ہم کہہ سکتے ہیں پی پی بلوچوں کے لیے لیے کسی آمر اور جابر سے کم نہیں ہے۔

On their return from Jinnah International Airport Karachi, the police and security forces stopped the car of Dr @MahrangBaloch_ and @SammiBaluch at a deserted place and searched the car, took away the doctor's phone and passport, and drove away the driver. We have reached home safe and sound. Dr. Mahrang Baloch is with me, and she is safe. A number of male police officers, along with men in plain clothes, intending to disappear us, blocked our car minutes after we left Karachi airport. They had
left us on a deserted dark road after lots of resistance from us. Men police officers and some men in civilian dress pulled at our clothes and dupatta, searched us, used derogatory language, and went through our baggage. They confiscated Mahrang Baloch’s mobile phone, passport, and other belongings. They snatched the keys to our car, tortured the driver, and abused us, before leaving us stranded in the middle of the night on a deserted highway. Later, multiple cars and unknown individuals continued to traumatize and harass us. This was a deliberate attempt to harass, intimidate, and silence us, but we refuse to be silenced and are not afraid of this sheer barbarism. We must all speak out against this madness and injustice. If this has happened to us today, it could happen to you tomorrow. Let’s join hands and raise our voices together.
