In this interview, Sonam Wangmo, wife of BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, reportedly tells Rahul Kanwal that the footage used to portray Kanhaiya Kumar as anti-national was fake. She claims she was a student at the time, that Kanhaiya was not even present when the alleged slogans were raised, and that the incident shocked the students who witnessed it.

Fast-forward to 2026. Similar questions are being raised about the role of certain TV journalists and the narratives surrounding recent protests.

Different year, familiar pattern? First, a narrative dominates prime-time television; then, the public is left questioning what actually happened.

The faces and circumstances may differ, but the need for independent journalism, verified evidence, and accountability remains the same.
