Christian Craighead, a devout Catholic and former soldier in the 22nd SAS Regiment, was stationed in Kenya to train local forces when a chance encounter set the tone for a defining day. While driving, he picked up a hitchhiker who, in an almost unnatural voice, told him: “May God bless you many times this day.”

Moments later, news broke of a terrorist attack at the DusitD2 hotel complex in Nairobi.

Craighead did not wait for orders or backup. He grabbed his gear and drove directly toward the gunfire. Acting largely alone, he entered the besieged building. Floor by floor, he advanced through the complex under live fire, rescuing trapped civilians, escorting the wounded to safety, and engaging the attackers head-on.

For 18 hours, he held the line. By the end of the siege, he had neutralized two terrorists (assisting in the neutralization of others) and helped secure the facility, saving over 700 lives. Throughout the ordeal, he carried a Holy Rosary and a Bible. Known to the world as "Obi-Wan Nairobi," he stands as a testament to the spirit of a true Christian warrior.
