he can speak a few words, but it is often harsh and brutal, or rude. even this has a resemblance to Hugo.. (but deep inside, he does seem to care about many ppl).

he seems to have a strong sense of justice, and he doesn't like stupidity.. so Leo must be careful with him!

few days after Hugo left, Leo found this creature in the rain. he likes to eat grass and think about things. when he looked sad, Leo and Celia decided to take care of him.

he's intelligent that he helps with Leo's homework! which was what Hugo used to do.

I think the reason is why he pataras lack character is because they aren't a single character, but mass species used as instrument in the war...
