I received the letters of credence for Dr. Mazyanga Lucy Mazaba, the newly appointed Regional Director of the Africa CDC Eastern Africa Regional Coordinating Centre (RCC), during her courtesy call at my office today.

This occasion marks an important milestone, the very first formal appointment by the Eastern Africa RCC to the Government of Kenya since the Africa CDC was elevated to an autonomous public health agency of the African Union in 2022. It is a testament to the growing strength of regional collaboration and our shared commitment to advancing health security across Eastern Africa.

I warmly congratulate Dr. Mazyanga on her appointment and reaffirm Kenya’s steadfast support in building a resilient, responsive, and integrated regional public health architecture for the benefit of all our people.
