Dance writer + author of eg Bloomsbury Ballerina, Unfinished Palazzo, Going With The Boys/Correspondents, Gwen & Augustus John &, now, history of the Nutcracker
One of the most horrific scenes in human history has been revealed.
The moment a small child carrying a water jug to her besieged and thirsty family was bombed, killing her and shattering her body.
A video the world must never forget.
Whatever world Tony Blair inhabits appears to be one without climate change & where UK temperature record for May hasn’t just been smashed by over 2C. How else to explain his extraordinary dismissal of net zero & erroneous claim that fossil fuels are cheaper than renewables? 🙄
People are saying that Nigel Farage has asked Elon Musk to ban people from X for sharing this clip of him attacking his crony Robert Jenrick.
Surely free speech champion Nigel Farage isn't that petty? But just in case, THIS is the video that you mustn't download or share
Top tip for surviving heatwave, which I only just learned. When the worst of the heat is over, put a fan by an open window. It accelerates the flow of cooler air into the room.
Fully rate these amazing Arsenal fans trying to do Bhangra moves.
Il take the light bulb changing hand move! Well done lads!
This is BRITAIN..no, this is GREAT BRITAIN 🇬🇧
At Bath Literary Fesitval tomorrow - do come if you're in the neighboughood. Its going to be the hottest day of the year, but nothing so hot as the combined stories of Gwen and Augustus John https://t.co/1riXw1PobL
The richest man on Earth dismantled the organization that feeds the poorest children on earth.
He also cancelled all of the global Ebola prevention programs. The UN has now declared Ebola outbreak a global health emergency.
Elon Musk’s dismantling of USAID has already killed more children than in Gaza and Ukraine combined.
He cut lifetimes for millions and the result is a silent massacres.
Nor should we forget his complicity in the genocide in Gaza, as well as in the war in Ukraine and the Epstein case.
I don’t understand how billionaires think. If I only had one billion dollars, I would rush to fix our world problem. Homeless, hungry, poverty, wars, climate change... etc. They can be heroes and not just billionaires. What a waste.
Claudio Monteverdi b otd 1567! What a great composer - his imagination, passion and depth of feeling mirroring that of the great Italian visual artists of his day.
"The end of all good music is to affect the soul."
"The modern composer builds his works on the basis of truth."
Shattering news from Ukraine. At least 24 people, including 3 children, have now been confirmed killed in yesterday’s attack on Kyiv, meaning Russia has just inflicted one of the deadliest attacks on the capital since the start of its full-scale invasion. It is so vital we don’t let this pass us by, nor glaze over, nor turn away. Russia will keep on murdering civilians in Ukraine for as long as we permit this. Meanwhile, Ukraine isn’t just defending itself - it’s defending the rest of Europe against Putin’s imperial obsessions.
I will be travelling to Ukraine next month to write, to document and to meet local palliative care teams doing their utmost to provide care to patients under conditions of war. I am in awe of what Ukrainian health care teams manage to achieve, despite everything, through sheer grit and professionalism. An inspiration to us all. @hospiceukraine
THE biggest story right now is how @Nigel_Farage took bribes to subvert UK elections and influence policy to the benefit of foreign crypto scammers. Please share, lest we forget.
Chapeau to @balletboyz for celebrating their 25th anniversary in such high style. Wonderful to see old classics from the rep, by @RMaliphant, @JavierDeFrutos6 & @wheeldondance and discover the choreography of XieXin - a marvel of fluency, suspension and gorgeous mystery
Now it seems Starmer's staying put for the time being, can the media ask some serious questions about the dodgy millions bankrolling the British far right ?
I personally don't think it's a good idea for the future of the country's government to be determined by the likes of Sam Coates, Laura Kuenssbeg, and Dan Hodges.
Two Reform Councillors had died before they were elected.
Five have quit because they never actually wanted to be Councillors.
At least four have been fired because they are vile racists.
One is complaining because he thought he'd be an MP.
One was completely made up
Clown party
What we crave is an old-school government so boring no-one knows their names. Competent, professional.
But we're led by a story-hungry media desperate for new drama for sponsored podcasts.
If they had their way we'd have a new PM every month, each worse than the last.
What the TV BAFTAs truly show is the fortunate few at the top of an unsustainable industry that is in serious danger of collapse. British television, far from world leading, is in freefall with more than 75% of freelancers out of work. We need real change, not empty slogans.
