Against the will of the people, lawmakers in Louisiana just passed a dangerous permitless carry bill, which would effectively roll back the state’s gun safety policy that requires Louisianans to receive training and have a permit to carry a concealed firearm in public. This vote comes despite polling showing that over 80% of gun owners, non-gun owners, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents agree that high safety standards are critical in issuing concealed carry permits. #LALege

BREAKING: After over a decade of our volunteers and @Everytown shining a light on corruption at the NRA, today, a jury found the organization liable for financial mismanagement and executives liable for improperly diverting funds from the non-profit to benefit themselves.

This trial has caused irreparable damage to the NRA’s brand and the financial impacts will be severe and long-lasting. No longer will the NRA be able to steal the spotlight with its extreme rhetoric or wield the political clout that kept lawmakers who wanted to speak out silent.

Going into the 2024 elections, the timing could not be worse for gun extremists. As the NRA has imploded, the gun violence prevention movement has only grown stronger.
