Let’s always remember this:
For Musk speech is only free when it supports him (and MAGA I suppose). Otherwise it is called „activism“ and can be suppressed.
Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists.
Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.
A single person (supporting a party that is trying to destroy democracy no less), is now controlling the „public square“. Nothing has changed? For Twitter, everything has changed.

When you are rich it is in your best self-interest to fight against anybody who could limit the reach of your speech, because you still have plenty of (costly) methods available to you to bury any story you don‘t like.
Elon Musk is again claiming that he’s all about free speech. So let’s look at the record. Here’s thread with just a few of the countless examples showing he couldn't care about it less (🧵)
1/13 Here's a Russian propaganda story for @christogrozev un @bellingcat right out of the movies. We're in Venice, unintentionally eavesdropping on a conversation between 2 Russian guys (a bartender and his friend) and one of the regulars... So 🧵
One of the best RU experts explains why women in the provinces don't resist against mobil. "My unemployed husband will not find any job here; he is heavily drinking and will die sooner or later; if he goes to the war he will at least earn some money and we'll get social benefits
Summary: if you think that a strong, powerful, violent autocrat must be well-informed, you are probably wrong. Nobody would ever tell him anything unpleasant. The same goes on *every* level of hierarchy. Autocracy is brittle, because it is blind
All of you who are saying that we have to give in to nuclear blackmail are making nuclear war more likely. Please stop. When you give in to it, you empower dictators to do it again, encourage worldwide nuclear proliferation, and make nuclear war much, much more likely.
To consider regarding nuclear blackmail: when you give in to it, you empower dictators to do it again, encourage worldwide nuclear proliferation, and make nuclear war much, much more likely.
Well, Russian media have an new favorite village idiot.
"Medvedev called Musk worthy of an "extraordinary title" for a post about Ukraine."
@elonmusk: Before talking about Crimea, take a minute to read an article in Wikipedia. https://t.co/EaZFKidlVn
“How are you doing?” I ask a journalist friend in Kyiv. “Getting ready for nuclear war.” The most important thing is a mask, she says. And produces one from her handbag.
To sum up, Italy will no longer be a force for good within the EU but a free-riding member state taking - as opposed to giving - as much as it can, and ceasing to contribute to major decision-making.
It will be transactional only, with no room left for solidarity. #italyelection
Russia🇷🇺 is most likely the first and only country in the world where people flee not because someone invaded their country, but because they invaded another country.
The Russian economists Maxim Mironov (@mironov_fm) and Oleg @itskhoki (of IE University and UCLA respectively) have published an important thread estimating the likely demographic impacts of mobilisation on Russia. A translation follows. ⬇️ /1
