This is Grammy-winning artist Pras Michel shaking hands with Barack Obama in 2012.

This month, he officially reported to prison to begin a 14-year federal sentence after prosecutors proved he helped funnel millions in illegal foreign money into Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign.

The operation: Prosecutors proved Michel accepted more than $100 million from Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho in a covert influence scheme tied to influencing U.S. elections.

The laundering network: Michel used straw donors to secretly route foreign cash into Obama’s 2012 campaign, bypassing federal election laws designed to prevent foreign influence in American elections.

The verdict: A federal jury convicted him on 10 criminal counts, including conspiracy, money laundering, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government.

In other words: Barack Obama colluded with a foreign power to illegally influence and rig the 2012 presidential election in his favor.

Having @GovofCO Jared Polis on your podcast to talk affordable energy is a little like asking the neighborhood arsonist to host a fire-safety seminar. But that's what happened last week on @politico's energy podcast, where hilarity and hypocrisy were on full display.  

Polis was there to offer Democrats advice on how to message energy affordability issues in upcoming elections, which is more than ironic given his own abysmal record on energy affordability. But Jared is the master of painting lipstick on proverbial pigs, which is what Dems will have to do if they want to win on energy issues, so perhaps the appearance was apt. 

Average electricity rates have jumped nearly 40% in Colorado since Polis was inaugurated, despite his repeated claims that the green energy panaceas he pushes are saving ratepayers money. Those promises never panned out. They were/are demonstrably false, if not fraudulent. Yet Polis keeps repeating the same empty mantra, even as contradictory evidence piles as high as Pikes Peak.

And electricity isn’t the only thing on fire. Xcel Energy’s natural gas delivery charges have tripled since 2019, and overall residential gas rates have doubled in key stretches. All of this happened on Polis’s watch, while he fast-tracked renewable mandates, rushed coal-plant retirements, and pushed the electrification of everything, from automobiles to leaf blowers to home heating systems.

How is the destabilized green grid going to handle all that extra load? Jared has never explained that. And he hopes to slip quietly out of office before all the costs and contradictions really start catching up to him.

Polis also bemoaned $4 per gallon gas prices in Colorado, which he laid at Trump's feet. But gas prices during the Biden years often reached or exceeded that sum, without a peep of protest from Jay-rod. Trump's temporary price spikes are the result of a war. Biden spiked prices on purpose.

So yeah — the guy who helped drive Colorado families’ energy costs sharply higher now wants to tell the rest of the Democratic Party how to sell “affordability.”

Classic do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do energy policy.

And hey @politico — does your climate reporter really think Jared Polis is the poster kid for holding down soaring energy bills? That doesn’t speak well of his reporting acumen, or his ability to do research.

Colorado voters aren’t as stupid as Politico podcast watchers. We can see Polis's real record on affordable energy every month, when it arrives printed in ink on our utility bills.

At the Capitol this past week, Senate Bill 135 passed committee, framed as an education funding bill.

But the fine print tells a different story. The bill would alter TABOR’s limits and could permanently end TABOR refunds. Only a small fraction of the new revenue would be required to go to education in the first year, while roughly $600 million could flow into the state’s General Fund for “any other purpose.”

That means much of the money wouldn’t necessarily reach classrooms, teachers, or students, it would simply give lawmakers a blank check. #copolitics

The Great Colorado Cover-Up continues, #copolitics. Here's an update for March 5, 2026.

Colorado's leaders — @GovofCO Polis, AG @pweiser, & Sec. @JenaGriswold — are still stonewalling legitimate federal oversight efforts, framing their obstructionism as noble resistance to Trump "bullying" and "federal overreach." But let's call it what it is: a desperate bid to hide potential voter irregularities, financial fraud, and welfare system abuse that's embarrassing as hell -- and possibly illegal.

VOTER ROLLS: Colorado is still refusing to comply with @TheJusticeDept requests for unredacted data on SSNs & driver's licenses, probably for fear of exposing non-citizen voting or bloated/padded/wildly inaccurate voter lists.

MEDICAID MESS: Colorado is fighting tooth and nail in courts to withhold Emergency Medicaid data on undocumented folks. Why the secrecy if everything's clean and legal?

WELFARE PROGRAMS: Clorado's blocking federal deep dives into TANF, SNAP (food stamps), & child care grants amid $315M+ freezes for "fraud probes." Legal challenges, all by deep blue states, keep the federal cash flowing temporarily, but it reeks of stalling legitimate oversight. And the rogue states will probably lose in court eventually. You can't take the federal dollars without the federal oversight. Colorado's position is legally and ethically/morally untenable.

IMMIGRATION DODGE: Sanctuary laws & new bills shield ICE from local data, potentially covering up misuse of state resources.

To many Coloradans, this isn't heroism or neo-federalism in action. It's a shady and suspicious effort to stymie transparency and accountability, all orchestrated by the top officials in the state.

If there's nothing to hide, why has Colorado adopted this fortress mentality?

The only reasonable conclusion is that Colorado has something to hide.

It's time to end the
