I fucking LOVE when they draw raven team leader as a normal person and not just goon
When she has a silly or really serious personality, its just beautiful
@Fortnite how about we switch Monday Mastery with Power Hours?
Having a whole day to get new sprites on the weekend would be way more efficient then having just 2 hours. Also some timezones aren't able to participate in both time slots - barely even one.
I've been thinking about why I don't enjoy Fortnite as much anymore, and Override has made it a lot more obvious to me.
Chapter 7 in general hasn't really developed much of an identity for me. We're already four seasons into it and I don't know what I'm going to look back on and immediately associate with this chapter. So much has changed so quickly or has been built around things we've already seen that none of it has really had enough time to stick with me.
Golden Coast is probably the biggest exception. I genuinely miss that map. It was memorable, I liked playing on it, and it actually felt like something I was going to associate with this era of Fortnite. I really don't think it should've disappeared as quickly as it did. Fortnite moves so fast now that sometimes it feels like you're barely given enough time to become attached to something before the game has already moved on.
And now we're at Override and I'm just not feeling much excitement for it. Overrides were made into such a massive deal and are literally the name of the season, but I don't find the mechanic interesting enough to carry an entire season. We've had stuff like Super that I enjoyed way more and it never felt like Epic pushed it anywhere near this much.
The Sprites also make this season feel way too close to Runners for me. I don't mind Fortnite bringing ideas back, but when the current chapter already struggles to have a clear identity, seeing another season remind me so much of a previous one doesn't help. I want to be able to think about each season and remember what made playing it specifically feel different.
I don't think I've had that proper season launch excitement since Pacific Break either. Part of that is definitely the weapons. I'm not really someone who gets excited when an old gun gets unvaulted. I'd honestly rather get a new weapon that's basically a reskin or reinterpretation of an older gun because at least there's something new to learn and something visually associated with that season. Opening a chest on launch day and getting a weapon I've already used for years doesn't do much for me anymore.
That's probably what I miss most about season launches. I used to actually want to learn the game again. New map, new loot, new mechanics, figuring out what was good and what wasn't. Recently I can log into a new season and already understand so much of what I'm looking at.
I've even noticed that I've slowly become the type of player who comes back because Fortnite added one of my favorite IPs. Years ago I never understood people who only got on for a collab, because I was playing Fortnite regardless. Now sometimes a character I like getting added is genuinely more exciting to me than the season itself.
I also wonder if that's just where Fortnite is with its audience now. There's an entire younger generation playing who didn't experience all the stuff we did. A mechanic or returning weapon that feels old to me might be something they're experiencing for the first time. They're growing up with their version of Fortnite just like we did in 2017.
Maybe that's why I feel increasingly disconnected from some of the decisions they're making. I've seen so many versions of Fortnite at this point that I need something more to get excited about a season, while someone newer doesn't have eight or nine years of the game to compare everything to.
I still care about Fortnite a lot, which is probably why I even think about this stuff this much. I just don't have that feeling anymore where a new season alone is enough to make me want to play every day.
Chapter 7 had things I genuinely loved. Golden Coast especially. I just wish Fortnite gave those things more time to actually become part of the game's identity instead of constantly rushing toward whatever comes next.
Right now I feel more attached to things from earlier in the chapter that are already gone than I do to the season I'm currently supposed to be excited about.
@realAlucar I relate so much.
If it wasn't for the sprites, I wouldn't play at all.
It feels plain and i don't know how to pin point what the exact cause is.
I just hope they won't focus too much on the sprites and actually make the game fun again.
