People living with life-limiting illnesses that will only get worse shouldn’t have to be put through repeated benefits reassessments.
They add stress, worry and paperwork at a time when people are already dealing with so much.
It has to stop. 🛑
📢 We’re calling on the government to make sure people can quickly access financial support when they need it most, without the stress of reassessments. Are you with us?

Dear Reform-voting ladies…
Do you know you’re voting for a party that wants to:
❌ Scrap the Equality Act - your legal protection against workplace discrimination & unequal pay
❌ Kill the Online Safety Act - the law protecting you from revenge porn
❌ Vote AGAINST the bill to stop workplace sexual harassment
❌ Stack the party with anti-abortion politicians - some opposing termination even in cases of rape
❌ Push “pro-family” policies that put women back in the home
I guess the question is…
Do you hate immigrants more than you love your rights?
March 2026 marks a historic milestone as the British Lymphology Society launches a full Lymphoedema Awareness Month. With services under strain and specialist centres closing, awareness is more urgent than ever.

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that our beloved founder, Jo Taylor, died early on Monday morning surrounded by her husband Jeff, and two children, Regan and Faron.
Jo was a tireless advocate, a fearless campaigner and a beacon of hope for those living with metastatic breast cancer. Diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2007 and with metastatic breast cancer in 2014, Jo dedicated her life to changing the narrative around MBC. She founded METUPUK and created the powerful #BusyLivingWithMets movement to show the world that people with MBC are living, thriving and worth the investment.
Jo’s legacy is one of courage and unwavering determination. Her work has touched countless lives both here in the UK and around the world. From her advocacy and public speaking to the creation of the red flag signs and symptoms infographics, she undoubtedly paved the way to empower others to find their voice.
She championed change with unwavering resolve and spoke with unflinching honesty. Jo’s voice lives on; her messages echo louder than ever: we demand change.
Our thoughts are with Jo’s family, friends, and the entire MBC community. She will be deeply missed and absolutely never forgotten.
She had the heart of a lioness. Rest in power, Jo 💔

🔔 31 bells. 31 lives.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, our founder Jo Taylor rings the bell 31 times - one for every woman who dies each day from Metastatic Breast Cancer in the UK. And one extra ring for the lives we’ll keep campaigning for.
The Fabric of Our Lives campaign may be wrapping up, but our work continues - because for those living with MBC, there is no end of the campaign. This month, approximately 961 women and 8 men in the UK will have died of Metastatic Breast Cancer. We will keep pushing for change: better access to drugs, more data, more understanding, and real action for those living with this disease.
The fabric may fray, but we will not fade. Stand with us. Share our message. Be part of the change.

The Fabric of Our Lives.
Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) devastates everything it touches. Your plans. Your body. Your sense of safety.
It tears through families and futures, leaving behind pieces that can never be put back the same way.
It’s not just the diagnosis - it’s every scan, every sleepless night, every conversation that starts with “I’m sorry, there’s been progression.”
We grieve while we live. We hope while we hurt. We smile through the devastation because that’s what strength has come to mean.
But strength shouldn’t be survival alone. We need better treatment options, earlier access, and more compassion for the reality of MBC.
Stand with us. Share this. Help rebuild the system that keeps letting us fall apart.

The Fabric of Our Lives. Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) doesn’t get the headlines. It doesn’t get the research funding it deserves. It doesn’t even get counted properly - because data on those living and dying with it is still missing. We speak up. We advocate. We ask for better. But too often, our voices echo into silence. Ignored in policy. Ignored in pink. Ignored in the promise of “awareness” that rarely reaches us. We are not an afterthought. We are part of the story - the reality that needs to be seen and heard. 📣 Don’t look away. Share this. Demand better for everyone living with MBC.

The Fabric of Our Lives.
When you live with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC), your voice can fade beneath the noise of pink positivity. You’re told to “stay strong” to “keep fighting”.
But sometimes, you just need to be heard.
Too often, our pain is downplayed. Our fears dismissed. Our stories untold.
We’re not statistics. We’re people living - and dying - with a disease that’s still terminal.
It’s time to listen to those living the reality. It’s time to raise the voices that have been silenced for too long.
🗣️ Speak up. Share this. Let’s make sure every voice is heard.

Metastatic Breast Cancer patients in Scotland refused access to targeted breast cancer drug.
We are sorry to announce that the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has not accepted the targeted cancer medicine capivasertib (Truqap) for NHS use in Scotland.
Capivasertib, taken with fulvestrant, is used to treat people with hormone receptor–positive (ER+), HER2–negative advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer that has specific gene mutations changes for PIK3CA, AKT1, or PTEN.
@breastcancernow, METUPUK, and @make2ndscount have come together to call for equitable access to this vital treatment. We’re calling on the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to urgently engage with the SMC to quickly address concerns and resubmit capivasertib for further assessment as soon as possible so the treatment can be made available to everyone who could benefit. We represent patients and their families, who believe that everyone in Scotland deserves access to innovative, life-extending medicines - regardless of postcode.

Lost in the System. Lost in My Head.
Living with metastatic breast cancer isn’t just about managing the physical symptoms - it’s about surviving the emotional storm that comes with it.
The system is complex, slow, and often blind to our needs.
We wait. We chase answers. We feel forgotten.
And inside?
The fear, the uncertainty, the grief… it builds. We need more than treatment.
We need compassion, clarity, and consistent support.
Let’s talk about the emotional weight of MBC.
Let’s make space for mental wellbeing.
Let’s stop letting people fall through the cracks.

The Fabric of Our Lives
Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) is a life lived in the shadows of pink campaigns.
•No clear data on how many of us there are
•No funding to match the need
•Not enough support for those living with it
People living with MBC are being forgotten.
It’s time to illuminate the darker side of pink.
It’s time to demand change.
Share this. Speak up. Support those living with MBC.

“How do we get better outcomes and survival for Metastatic Breast Cancer?” That’s the question METUPUK’s founder Jo Taylor asks in her latest blog and the answer isn’t more pink campaigns or fluffy awareness. It’s research, better drug access, real data, and urgent systemic change. Jo writes candidly about what it’s like to live with MBC, the brutal gaps in care, and why physical activity alone won’t fix a broken system. It’s time the voices of people with MBC were heard and counted. Read Jo’s full blog now via the link: https://t.co/KUvV0mZjHA

Count us in. Stop leaving us out.
METUPUK recently joined global partners including Breast Cancer Network Australia, Breast Cancer Now and Rethink Breast Cancer to demand urgent action on Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) data.
Despite data collection being made mandatory in England over a decade ago, we're still not being fully counted and without data, there’s no progress, no targeted support, and no accountability.
Since then, 138,000 women have died of MBC in the UK. We deserve to be visible. We deserve to be heard.
It’s time to count us in.

Our Friends, Not Forgotten 💔
Many of you will remember Mary Huckle - a fierce advocate and friend - who dedicated herself to raising awareness of #MetastaticBreastCancer.
Mary shared so much of her life with honesty and strength. Her final blog post for Metastatic May, is a raw and beautiful reflection on mental health, grief, and coping while living with stage 4 cancer.
She didn’t shy away from the truth - about fear, about resilience, about the daily weight of living with this disease.
We wish we could have wrapped her up and told her everything would be OK.
We couldn’t, but we can remember her, and we can keep sharing the messages she worked so hard to amplify.

Clinical trials can offer treatments not otherwise available - so why aren’t they discussed earlier?
Helen, one of our incredible volunteers (and an MBC patient and nurse), has finished trial screening and shared her experience.
She had to research on her own, dig through confusing databases, and push for referrals - something no patient should have to do.
Trials aren’t a last resort. They should be part of the treatment conversation from the start.
📣 That’s why we maintain our own trial database - because the system still doesn’t. #ClinicalTrials #MBCNotAFootnote #TrialAccess #MBCAdvocacy #MetastaticBreastCancer #PatientVoice #ResearchIsTreatment
S was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in 2018. After developing Metastatic Breast Cancer, her subtype changed multiple times - including to HER2-ultra-low.
Enhertu, a drug shown to be effective in these cases, wasn’t available to her in the UK - but it was in Spain. After six cycles, her scan showed a complete response. She is now back to NEAD.
How many others are missing out on life-extending treatment due to access delays?
We recently joined forces with @breastcancernow in parliament for the #MoreTimeToLive campaign, calling for faster access to promising new drugs.

Asha Umrawsingh was a doctor and advocate who lived with Metastatic Breast Cancer for almost a decade. In this blog, written before her death in March 2024, she shares the challenges she faced accessing treatment due to outdated NHS guidelines.
Asha’s story powerfully highlights the injustice of treatment rationing, and the urgent need for more flexible, patient-centred care. Her words are a reminder that change is not only necessary - it’s long overdue.
