I have book coming out called “Undistracted.” I hope it feels like a reminder from a friend to filter out the parts that don’t matter from the parts that do.
Words are like containers for power. Your mouth can be filled with creative power that you speak out over your own life, the life of people you love, your city, and the world. You can speak against the enemy and stop His action in your life by speaking the Word of God!
Sometimes a truth in Scripture I’ve known since childhood will hit me with a fresh splash of awe like I’m hearing it for the 1st time. Today it was the fact that Jesus is with us.
Like right now. WITH US. I think “with” is one of the best of all words in the sacred vocabulary.
Self-control is a freedom, not bondage. You're free to use wisdom, free to obey God, and free to follow the leading of the Spirit. You're free not to be pushed around by your feelings. You don't have to do what you feel like doing. You're free to do what you know is wise!
Well, I made it to 1 Kings 11 this morning in my daily Bible reading and I have these 2 things to say based on Solomon’s finale:
1) We are never too wise to get stupid.
2) Nothing on earth will utterly unravel that YES we said to God like a NO we’re unwilling to say to ourselves.
I get the feeling that a lot of Christians believe we are people who should just “keep it positive” all the time. What is more depressing than this? All my hope is in Jesus but that does not does not mean I am hopeful all the time, about everything. I am grateful our Jesus wept.
Sisters, we’ve been warned that a most difficult week could be ahead with COVID-19. This is Holy Week. Let’s walk it with Jesus. 1st thing each day this week, get our faces in Scripture. Hear from God before news. Draw strength and hope. Intercede with faith. Weep and worship.
“I think God sometimes uses the completely inexplicable events in our lives to point us towards Him. We get to decide each time whether we will lean in towards what is unfolding and say yes or back away.” Love Does.
If you don’t having anything to look forward to (a walk, a movie, a trip, etc.) you’re probably doing too much. Have enough time to be excited about something.
Don’t know if anyone can relate to this but I find that if I’d just shut my mouth 1 sentence sooner, just 1 tiny little sentence sooner, I’d be woefully better off. It’s the last word that sinks this ship. Here’s my Monday word to myself: Shut up sooner than you think you should.
If we don’t lay being grumpy, negative, anxious, selfish, and angry down at the cross… we’ll carry it with us everywhere. Changing locations won’t fix what we carry inside of us.
