Because most of us were googling him an hour ago, me included. Here's what you're getting, assuming nobody hijacks this one before the medical's done. Touch wood, salt over the shoulder, whatever it takes these days.

Defensive midfielder from Monaco, turned 20 last week. Academy lad who only made his senior debut last AUGUST, then worked his way into the rotation, 18 league appearances and Champions League minutes in his first season of proper football, either side of a couple of injuries. France U20, won the Maurice Revello with them last summer. RMC say the fee's agreed at just over €40m and he flies in for his medical today.

So yes, another one you've never heard of, and yes, that's clearly the plan now. Jaouen, Touré, Steur, now Bamba. Four signings, average age NINETEEN AND A HALF. Wilson isn't buying a team, he's buying the next five years of one.

Is £34m a lot for ten league starts? Course it is. It's a bet on the ceiling, not the CV, same as Steur, same as Touré. That's the market now for lads this age that Monaco trusted this early.

He's not Tonali. Nobody's pretending he is. But a 20 year old holding midfielder getting Champions League minutes in year one is not a punt either.
