😳 - just had modern day event similar to when my toddler sister worked VCR better than my parents….
5yo (who can’t read yet) just switched tv to the Apple TV input & mirrored her phone so she could listen to her music…in less than 30 seconds without any instructions/help
@annaboudinot This week I told my kids how I used to dread having to call my parents collect on a pay phone outside my elementary school when I didn’t have a quarter - they couldn’t understand what a pay phone was, who an operator was, or why it would be expensive
Following an unexpected afternoon rest :
5yo - Much better; my head isn’t rattling anymore
Me - what do you mean by rattling?
5yo - too many words running around my head
Guess virtual TK was intense today 😂
I remember reading a few years ago how we need to find a way to teach children grit. I think the pandemic has taken care of that for this generation of kids...😥
I left my shoes outside my 9yo bedroom on my way to put him to bed the other night and forgot about them. I apologized the next day and he says, “I’ll just sell them if it comes to that”.
Wait - What in the world could lead to you needing to sell my shoes ?!?! 😳
During an impromptu and informal game of Pictionary with the family, our 5 year old chose her own word... she drew many things including people, the earth, and stars...she became humorously exasperated that no one got it...the story of “creation” from the book of Genesis😲🤯
12yo from other room - Dad can you come help me cut something for this project?
Mom to Dad quietly - love that she calls you not me
Dad to 12yo - Yeah you know Mom can’t use scissors
12yo - I called Dad not Mom
Parents laugh hysterically
12yo - why are you laughing?
I was lamenting to my husband that I feel like I’ve lost my fun. So asked my 4yo daughter if I’m fun. She responds with hysterical laughter. I ask her if it’s because she thinks I’m fun or because she’s like no way. She continues laughing and says “no way”. Soul crushing 🥺
Per requests, I created a new plot type of *confirmed* COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people (i.e., normalized by the state's population). Several hot spots in total case count go away (e.g., Illinois, Texas, California), while Louisiana & Colorado emerge as new hot spots.
Amidst 4yr old assigning imaginary superpowers, she replaced my rainbow making powers with shooting poison against bad guys - I protested - exasperated she said “Fine. You can have rainbows - but they kill people”
