@MsHiller1 Using manipulatives would help students who are struggling be able to visualize the math concepts in order to better understand how to use them.

@MsHiller1 I think it does lower math anxiety because students have a better understanding of math concepts so they can use that understanding in all areas of math and they wouldn't be focusing so much on procedural fluency in school. It would be more balanced.

@MsHiller1 We could focus a lot on having the students explain why they were using certain strategies to check their understanding and not just their ability to perform.

@AbbyBlue814 @MsHiller1 I agree, Abby. I felt like I just needed to keep up with the rest of the class, instead of worrying about understanding what I was doing.

@MsHiller1 It meant that I did not understand the concepts enough to develop number sense. I often did not understand why I was using certain skills, I just simply knew how to do them.

A5 If students are too stressed they will have a harder time learning. I want my students to be successful and that may mean taking a step back and helping them cope before moving on with a new lesson.

A3 Student centered learning means that I need to be giving my students the resources and support that they need to help them learn best and be successful.

A2 Ss retain information better when they are able to discover it on their own rather than just sitting in class and listening to a lecture.
