#POPMUSF21 I agree. People prefer a cleaner and more crisp sound to their favourite songs but that doesn’t mean that they dislike live music. I like both but for different reasons. Live is more about the atmosphere created. Recorded is about appreciating the song for what it is
@kilfoy_claudia I agree! The two definitely do not sound the same. It’s hard to emulate the feeling of a live performance in a recording that was just done in a studio with a few people. Live music is all about the atmosphere and the energy of the crowd. That’s what makes it so enjoyable
@Brandon84872063 I agree! It’s hard to compare the two since people listen to them for different reasons. Live music is all about the atmosphere and being able to appreciate the music while being surrounded by other people who appreciate the music as well.
@HounsellMegan I agree! Not only did this unique sound help him better connect with his audience but it also helped him to stand out. His listeners can relate to him through his music since it’s so raw and authentic which makes his music so amazing to listen too!
#POPMUSF21 I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice to create a more meaningful sound to his voice. In the song I’ve got a women, he uses that authentic sound to connect with the listener by using a rich tonality and timbre to make the listener better connect with the sound
@JsweersSweers I agree! It’s not safe to glamorize such dangerous topics. Some artists use songwriting as an outlet to talk about their struggle with drugs which I can understand and respect as long as it doesn’t cross the line of promoting dangerous ideas to their audiences #POPMUSF21
@Vjvincent12 I agree! It’s all about personal taste! It seems a lot of people believe there is no talent behind pop music nowadays. A lot of talent has translated from writing to production. That doesn’t mean it’s ‘dumbed down’, it’s just shifting to adapt to different audiences #POPMUSF21
#POPMUSF21 Popular music hasn’t been ‘dumbed down’ since there’s always been many levels of sophistication. There’s more opportunities to be creative with music because of technology. A song doesn’t need to be on the same level as Schumann or Mozart to be enjoyed by someone.
