Brown/Trinity MFA grads unionize, requesting voluntary recognition as employees of Brown University represented by GLO! These grads perform valuable labor and deserve to have a voice in the conditions of their work alongside all grad workers at Brown! Link to B/T statement in bio
Calling for change, @NorthwesternGW rallied on Deering Meadow this week to launch its official union campaign. Yesterday's story for @NNN_News from me and @jenny_huh. 1/2
Jeremiah is being forced out of his program and could lose his visa, because he can't afford tuition - in spite of having worked since he got here. While he’s fighting for fair pay, he's started a GoFundMe to help with his tuition. You can support him at https://t.co/7CGIslX9Kd
Vanderbilt University's endowment grew by over 57% last year, to $10.9 billion. So, can the admin afford to subsidize dental & vision care so their grad workers can have healthy mouths and eyes? The answer is yes. But will they do it? That's up to you. https://t.co/mkv5m47Me0
Petition is nearly at 1,000 signatures! Let's double it! Please share to ensure Karina, Jeremiah, and Clew can finish their programs at

WE DID IT: with a landslide margin of 1785–912, we are officially the MITGSU-UE!!!
What started 4 years ago with a dozen students in an MIT classroom discussing the needs of graduate workers has culminated in this historic victory for student-workers at MIT. Now, we celebrate!
@GradLaborOrg Thank you to everyone at @GradLaborOrg for your outstanding work - way to rock bargaining! Excited to celebrate this massive win (an effective raise of 12.9%) with fellow grads, undergraduate allies, and union supporters <3 Hope to see gains like this at other institutions SOON!
We won a raise! Admin offers to raise grad salary to $42,412 ! The Bargaining Committee is excited to bring this to members for a ratification vote! Join us tomorrow at noon for our town hall where members will discuss the Tentative Agreement and kick off the vote! link in bio!
Instead of offering grad workers a real raise to a living wage, @BrownUniversity's proposed hiring another administrator "focused on graduate student resource and financial advising." While 100s of grads are using food banks, admin seems to think we just don't know how to budget.
Brown admin had a lot to say about grads’ choices—like basic emotional connection or transportation—but crickets on their own choice to underpay grad workers, despite massive fundraising hauls and explosive endowment growth.
