Yesterday the body of noted anticorruption activist and environmental defender Monika Silva was found in her home in the province of Santa Elena. She has been a champion for denouncing the corruption in her province.

Some allegations included ties of business to political interest and organized crime. Until now, the government has not issued any statement condemning this cruel assassination. In Ecuador, telling the truth is now an issue of life or death.
