@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA What people? What responses are being promoted that are "not known to help"? What things that are "working" or "relevant" are being "ignored" or "suppressed"?
Generalizations don't help your argument, they weaken it by failing to specify or provide evidence.
@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA If you just don't want to wear a mask, or don't "believe" in scientific consensus that contradicts your opinion, lead with that instead of beating around the bush with outdated public health guidance and recommendations from regions of the world with different situations.
@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA Public health consensus and guidance is specific to the situation in particular regions or countries. Trying to compare public health recommendations in Europe, where the virus isn't as widespread as it is in the US, is simply inaccurate.
@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA The public guidance on mask-wearing doesn't suggest that masks prevent contracting a disease. Rather, that wearing a mask can limit transmitting the virus primarily through respiratory droplets. Look up the definitions for "contract" and "transmit" and you'll see a difference.
@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA Community transmission became significantly more widespread in the US as did the medical understanding of asymptomatic spread, leading to an updated recommendation on mask use to limit transmission.
It's *almost* like public health gets better as more data become available.
@1LyndaHope@Joyceragland@GovernorVA Orrrrr wear a mask because a significant portion of people who contract covid are asymptomatic and can spread the disease without it being obvious?
You can spread respiratory droplets without coughing. Wear a mask and stop transmission. It's pretty simple.
@JFulleman@itsjstevens@vancemurphy @BloodyLabTech @GovernorVA Congrats on finding an article from March which supports your opinion, while conveniently ignoring updated public health guidance that has been issued since.

@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov As much as I'm sure that you and other Republicans would take issue with any implication that your votes have been bought by the NRA, NRLC, the Koch brothers, or others.
These groups invest to sway elections, sure. But to imply that they take away the agency of voters is false.
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov Hate to break it to you, but out-of-state interest groups regularly donate to support candidates on both sides of the aisle. This isn't a new phenomenon, and I think the Virginians who voted for Northam would take issue with your implication that their votes were bought.
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov You're deflecting. In the specific case of the privacy policy regarding the app, do you trust the rule of law? If not, do you regularly believe that legally binding documents are lying to you?
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov You're making an unsubstantiated generalization that folks in non-urban areas of the commonwealth a) generally didn't vote, and b) would overwhelmingly support Republican candidates over Democratic ones. You also provide no data to support that "this will be corrected."
@IamDarien93 @phil_goff If you read the article you would see that covid will displace car accidents as a leading cause of death in the US, hence my question.
Would still love to see your data (not a youtube video) showing death rates from choking on saliva, etc. being higher.
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov "2A is not conditional" followed by a parse from the text of the amendment seems to have everything to do with the wording of the text to me.
But do go on about how it "had nothing to do with that".
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov In this case I'm not referring to capability, but to legality. The privacy policy outlines that the app will not collect personally identifiable information. Do you not trust the rule of law?
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov It's not within your individual purview to adjudicate what does and does not infringe on your freedoms. That falls to the judiciary and the opinion of the majority, which elected the current administration and the GA.
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Whether you interpret that as conditional is your opinion. Parsing the text in an attempt to make an objective claim is inaccurate.
@IamDarien93 @phil_goff Yeahhhhh that's just straight-up false. It'll be the third leading cause of death in the US in 2020. Would love to see your data that more people die from choking on saliva than car accidents.

@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov and which allows you to volunteer anonymous exposure information will not compromise your privacy, full stop. By nature, it cannot. If it does not have access to private or identifying information, your privacy is secure.
@solitudefarm@GovernorVA@VDHgov Your understanding is certainly incorrect. It's just that in this specific area, your rights are not under threat. Voluntarily downloading an app that will view and store none of your personal data, will not have access to your location or your identifying information, [...]
