📍 Great to be in Bentham today for my constituency surgery at the Town Hall, meeting residents and discussing local issues and concerns.
If there’s something you’d like to raise or if my office can help, please get in touch.
I’m always keen to hear from constituents and support where I can.

Young people: the Conservative Party is on your side.
Whilst Labour make it harder for you to find a job, we have a plan to help you make money and get work experience ⬇️
It is disgusting that the ringleader of the grooming gangs in Rochdale has been let out.
He needs to be deported, and Conservatives are bringing forward an amendment to make this happen. I hope that the Labour government will support it, so we can get this man out for good.
I'm pleased to be working with @SkiptonBID pressing for a reduction in VAT for the hospitality sector.
Our pubs, cafés, restaurants and hotels are vital to our local economy, and I'll continue working with local businesses to make the case for the support they need.

Prime Minister's statement on Historic Forced Adoption.
Having worked with victims and survivors of institutional child abuse in Northern Ireland, I know how important it is that people who have suffered injustice are properly listened to and acknowledged.
Many mothers and families affected by historic forced adoption practices have spent decades fighting to have their voices heard. Today's apology is an important step, but it must be followed by genuine engagement and accountability from all institutions involved.
I also asked the Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer to remain personally involved in this issue as work continues to support survivors and deliver the next steps.
I completely agree. The Conservatives have a solution.
We will amend the government’s Immigration Bill to close the loophole so that this man can be deported immediately. If Andy Burnham wants to show he means what he says, he should instruct Labour MPs to support our amendment. We need to make sure this vile individual never walks our streets again.
✅ Lloyds Moves on Cheque Deposits Following Cross-Party Campaign
I welcome Lloyds Banking Group’s decision to seek the restoration of cheque deposit services at Post Offices and Banking Hubs until 2030.
I joined 120 other MPs in calling on Lloyds to rethink its position, and this is good news for older customers, small businesses, charities and community groups who still rely on cheque deposits.
Lloyds has taken a step in the right direction. It should now finalise an agreement with the Post Office so customers can deposit cheques locally again.
📗 A great visit to @UpperWharfedale
I enjoyed meeting students, hearing from the amazing teachers and joining celebrations to mark the school's School of Sanctuary award.
This recognition reflects the school's commitment to ensuring everyone feels welcome, included and valued, and it was clear to see those values in action throughout my visit.
Thank you to Headteacher -Ian Chapman, Deputy Head - John Mitton, staff and students for such a warm welcome. A real credit to our area.
PS sorry to Miss Cook for being so bad at egg throwing !

On Armed Forces Day, we honour and thank all veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces for their courage, dedication and sacrifice.
Today is an opportunity to recognise the contribution made by veterans across Skipton and Ripon, and to show our appreciation for everything they have done in service to our country.
Thank you for your service and commitment 🇬🇧
🚜 Single Farm Payments
Farmers are facing uncertainty as Single Farm Payments change. While the Government has committed to a transition scheme, there are still important questions about whether enough funding is being put in place for the schemes that will replace it.
I'm continuing to press these issues with ministers, but if you're facing challenges or concerns, please do get in touch.
☕️ A great stop at Ockerbys’ Coffee House in Grassington today before a busy day in and around Grassington.
Another great coffee location in the heart of the Dales!

Great to meet Faye Boswell from Sensified Spaces and hear about her fantastic work supporting neurodivergent people and families.
Sensified Spaces is helping make public spaces more accessible by giving people the information they need to navigate sensory environments with confidence.
We had a really positive discussion about SEND, inclusion, and the practical changes that can make a huge difference to everyday lives.
Thank you, Faye, for sharing your experiences and ambitions. I look forward to seeing Sensified Spaces continue to grow.
🔬It was great to visit Broughton Life Sciences on the Broughton Hall Estate near Skipton.
I learned more about the company's work helping to bring healthcare products to market and support better outcomes for patients.
We are fortunate to have innovative businesses like Broughton in North Yorkshire, creating skilled jobs, growing the local economy and showcasing the expertise we have in our area.
🚜 A new free app for the farming community.

🔩 Monitoring of New Steel Import Quotas
Today in the House of Commons, I asked the Government how it will monitor the impact of its new steel import quotas and what action it would take if problems emerge before the planned 12‑month review.
Watch the Minister's response below 👇
It was fantastic to welcome pupils from Birstwith C of E Primary School and Markington C of E Primary and Nursery School to Parliament last week.
The pupils enjoyed a tour of the Palace of Westminster and took part in a workshop with Parliament's Education Team before joining me for a Q&A session.
They asked some excellent questions and showed a real interest in how Parliament and democracy work.
Thank you to all the pupils, teachers and staff for making it such a great visit.

🚸 Road Safety on the Corner Fields Estate
I recently met local residents, parents and Councillor David Noland on the Corner Fields Estate in Skipton to discuss concerns about road safety on The Bailey and the crossing used by children walking to and from school.
It was good to hear directly from families about their experiences and the importance of ensuring children can travel safely within their community.
I understand the concerns that have been raised regarding traffic speeds and pedestrian safety, and I will continue to engage with North Yorkshire Council, and support the Parish Council, local councillors and residents as these issues are considered.
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and took the time to share their views.
