Whether he fights or folds will be clear at next week’s pension fund board meeting.
Lander made a major climate action proposal at the very end of his job as @NYCComptroller.
Will he fulfill his promises & enact it? Or is it just more big talk & image-building? Info 🧵
I’ve been meaning to fact check a recent @BrianLehrer episode on climate change and Local Law 97. I’m sorry to say it was one misstatement after another. It also set a tone of the law being too expensive or impractical (it’s not). It’s a great show but this episode was (argh).🧵
I’m trying to express something complex I’m not sure is true but think is:
When I was a youngun at @nypirg, the msm was often helpful to public interest causes. Tho it wasn’t great, they covered issues and (important!) took the less-monied underdog’s perspective.
Now… 🧵
The Dem response is apparently “Reagan fought the leftist pinko commie bastards” but “Trump loves Mother Russia ” <read in Yakov Smirnoff voice>
So, those midterms are looking promising, no?
I'm not a big New Year's Resolutions person, and I try to go broad if I make 'em at all. This year's is to "cut back on eating my feelings."
2025, you are making this REAL DAMN DIFFICULT. Stand down, pls. #ClimateCrisis#GreenlandIsNotForSale#FreeCanada#FeloniousTrump
👀Again, we’re holding @BradLander@NYCComptroller accountable to walk his big talk on climate.
He’s still refusing to:
😡End his pension fund investments via private equity in climate-destroying LNG projects;
🤬Shift NYC’s huge business from dirtier to cleaner money managers.👀
Harris didn’t iterate every single one of her policy points in a 90m debate that covered 21 topics. OTOH, Trump reminded us that Harris is operating on transgender illegal aliens in prison and immigrants in Ohio eat dogs (skibidi Ohio toilet amirite?) so I’m on the fence. #debate
I really thought we’d all learned our lesson about the importance of lead photo choice back in OJ Simpson days. @nytimes, change your front page photo of Harris now. More of your sane-washing, misogynistic bullshit.
All the cards are on the table, and here it is: you can vote for an intelligent, capable, compassionate woman with whom you sometimes disagree, or you can vote for the geriatric Word Salad King of Palm Beach.
.@350NYC & NYCC leafleting outside @NYCComptroller@BradLander event to convince him to move NYC fund business away from Wall Street’s dirtiest money managers.
Lander sends ~$60 billion to BlackRock, the world’s biggest coal, oil & gas investor. 😳
Move to cleaner managers!
