we have another family of friends + babies from church who are moving into our condo community. this makes 4. we’re basically turning the place into our own little catholic compound 😂😭
@Mqnguyen004@SullyBusiness Aww congrats! I just bought a house too. 🍾Same here, I’ll prolly end up making money off of it since rent for a 2 bed is easily $1k a month so Ill charge my 2 roommates a reasonable amount but it’ll easily cover the monthly mortgage.
@CoachShaski Plus kids can’t control their evening environment like having to go to siblings games, practices, hanging out at parents work, some unsupervised etc.
We live in an abuser centered world. When a survivor speaks up about trauma done to them, the focus goes to the abuser. People will narrate why it happened defending the abuser, & show compassion for the one being called out. No healing will happen like this. The cycle continues.
Senior Cassidy Garretson, majoring in biology with a concentration in pre-physical therapy and a minor in sports medicine, recently helped new mothers by giving them baskets filled with gifts.

“But, it made you who you are today.”
Who they are today, are people who’ve spent years, decades even, restoring damage that other people did. To suggest it’s worth it to be traumatized, is dismissive of the cost, the loss, & the pain of hearing toxic projections like this.
How has the idea that forgiveness means you’ve moved on and healed become so entrenched in our thinking? I can forgive and still be very stuck and traumatized. I can never even consider forgiveness and live a perfectly happy healthy content life. Forgiveness is up to the survivor
When it comes to survivors telling their stories, the devil doesn’t need an advocate. The story you’re hearing is sacred-from deep pain. No survivor needs to hear alternatives to their lived traumatic experience. If you want to be an advocate, do so for the brave story being told
Trauma survivors crave honesty and authenticity. We’ve had to fight for our ability to think clearly and know who we are. It’s cost us greatly. We aren’t willing to engage with those who do not honor that.
Why do survivors of sexual and domestic abuse have PTSD and symptoms like those that have been in battle, terrorized, and tortured? Because they have been in a battle and terrorized and tortured. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth#DVAM
Telling a survivor to “Leave it in the past” is dismissing the reality of their nervous system and body. No one wants to relive traumatic experiences on an ongoing basis. Survivors respond to past trauma because they are traumatized, not because they are unwilling to let go.
Trauma did NOT make you stronger.
It changed the structure and function of your brain, put you at risk for hormone imbalance + chronic pain, made it hard to discern between calm + chaos.
Let’s not glorify trauma.
Let’s GET REAL about healing:
It. Is. Possible.
This is just a snapshot of how blessed we are after Saturday's #PartyOnThePlaza at Newman University! Thank you to each and every person who helped us raise money for student scholarships.

Why are we letting 18 yos sub in classrooms, but not letting college students going to school to BE EDUCATORS take open teaching positions in lieu of student teaching?? We learn best by doing.
Give them a supervising teacher, require check-ins, & for the love of God pay them.
Just taught a class of 20 incoming freshmen
During the discussion I asked them: "How many books have you read in the past year?"
Every single one of them said "zero"
We have a major problem
If the horrific story of the 10-yr old girl pregnant by rape is true, is the rapist behind bars? Is the 10-yr old safe from the abuser?
Pro-abortion media is focusing on demanding the preborn baby be killed, instead of the rapist punished.
The rapist is guilty: not the children
