@SorchaEastwood Well said . This is my position . Has I’m in my 70’s I’m worried about how this euthanasia lobby will want to kill me off! I nursed my husband through hospice care at home and the good care( we were lucky) gave a dignified pain free end. This should be the first position .

@PolitlcsUK This is the right decision. Without good palliative and social care the choice is not available and assisted dying should be a real choice with good alternatives available . Without these alternatives people will just be panicked into choosing to die.

@GBPolitcs Why on earth should the country come to a halt for just a football match and I would not allow my children to stay up at 1 in the morning and miss school. They can watch catch up in the morning if they are that keen .

@ICT_MrP I worked at my community school and I did understand that my behaviour would need to be extra good outside . My children attended as well and grew up knowing that their behaviour had to be better than others . Although reporting seems excessive you do need to control behaviour.

@DanaPalubiak When I was growing up my father always let us have a ‘comic’ to help us read. Has a Lithuanian refugee this is how he taught himself English so he believed it would also help us to read . He was correct . We did have other books too.

@tombennett71 Phonics works but can become dry . May be this is why teenagers now hate reading for pleasure. They have not been taught to enjoy words and use their imagination.

@tombennett71 Did you have a deprived childhood without fun? A child repeating phrases as you point and acting out scenes to enhance comprehension is definitely reading . In the old days we called this ‘look and say’ which is how I learnt. Reading is more than decoding.

@SwailesRuth It’s nuts. A 2 year old has just discovered they have hands! The bones are soft and coordination not yet developed. When will sense arrive in OFSTED. Too many with limited life experience and no family of their own. I’ve seen many teachers change once they have their own child

@tes @jon_severs For goodness sake . Do these people even have children that they love!!! There is so much joy in sharing a book( not just being passively read to) with children who can’t yet decode letters. They are still ‘reading ‘and the shared experience enhances your relationship together.

Surely even you sang along to ‘ I’m going on a Bear Hunt’ up and over the furniture. This is enjoying a book . Toddlers ‘read’ with you following your finger across the page and join in.
