@CDCubed So incredibly sad to loose your trivia and other thoughts. I hope some day there will be a way to share those little things without the drama. Would love to hear from you again someday. Best wishes.
@NikkiHawthorne3@swati1201 Those are all good qualities! But remember that sometimes rankings can be off if the school is just passing students to get the higher ranking. It happens, unfortunately. Though it's hard to tell from the outside so it might not be worth worrying about.
@JenniGraff@swati1201@bretsw Tight knit is good! It takes a village to raise a child, after all. A community like that supports both the teacher and the students.
@swati1201 A5: This is hard because I'm not planning on being a teacher. But I would look for a place that prioritizes helping students become happy adults instead of just passing them through. #PSTPLN
@anna_mikkelsen@Lauren44329510@swati1201 It's interesting to see so many comments about Pinterest on here. I've used it intermittently over the years but I've always struggled trying to find stuff like what's being described in this thread. Guess I'll have to dig deeper!
@KaelanCamp@swati1201 Yea, I love YouTube! You do have to do a little bit of research to make sure the channel you're watching is reputable, but there's so much on there and a lot of it is genuinely entertaining.
@swati1201 A4: Recently I discovered that Crash Course, a YouTube channel run by John Green and his brother Hank, did a series on MIL and the like. It's accessible and reliable, so it's a great resource to direct students to. #PSTPLN
@SKIOLOGY_@swati1201 Yes, that's really important! You could also incorporate creative thinking by asking kids to demonstrate how they navigated MIL in a productive and throught provoking way #PSTPLN
@taylorgarbermsu@swati1201 Yes, technology is a great way to find answers to problems, as well as varying opinions on what answer is the best! Kids can use it to explore and develop their own ideas. #PSTPLN
@swati1201 A3: Problem-solving has a smaller role in education as it should, in part because of standardized testing. I would incorporate it with activities that don't have a single right way of doing things to show kids that there is more than one way to be successful #PSTPLN
@CaswellBethany@swati1201 Sharing ideas is a good idea, but sometimes it's difficult to know where and how to share them in ways that will be heard. That's something that I've struggled with in the past, anyway. #PSTPLN
@ninabteachtech@swati1201@dzukor Clubs are a good idea, I didn't think of that! I wonder what clubs like that there are on campus, and if there is anything akin to a club outside of college that isn't internet based. I'd be curious to find out! #PSTPLN
@SKIOLOGY_@swati1201 Yes! Trust is so, so important, and it can be seriously difficult to build. Being able to establish that is a time investment, but the returns exceed the costs. #PSTPLN
@KaelanCamp@swati1201 I absolutely agree! Adaptability is the number one skill teachers need to know, besides how to instruct. If a teacher can't adjust to their students, they can't teach them to the best of their abilities. #PSTPLN
@swati1201 A2: I can start with following my teachers from high school and classmates within the college of ed. I would want to make sure I can truly network with them, so I would reconnect with my teachers and form good relationships with my classmates irl. #PSTPLN
