The Russians insist this is a domestically made drone.

Согласно результатам, около семи из десяти израильтян хотят двух вещей: государственной комиссии по расследованию провала 7 октября и закона, который обязал бы ультраортодоксов служить наравне со всеми. И то и другое нынешнее правительство упорно отвергает.

Власти удобно разделять израильтян и создавать впечатление, что мы не способны ни о чём договориться. Оказывается же, что в главном — в требовании ответственности за катастрофу и равенства перед общим долгом — израильтяне на удивление единодушны. Настоящая линия разлома пролегает не между левыми и правыми, а между народом и властью, которая раз за разом нарушает уговор с собственными гражданами.

Есть, правда, и вопрос, по которому страна действительно раскалывается: верить ли сообщениям, что премьер-министра Биньямина Нетаниягу заранее предупреждали о готовящемся нападении, а он не отреагировал. Среди левых в достоверность сообщений верят 85%, в центре — 72%, а среди правых — лишь 28%. То есть единственная глубокая трещина проходит там, где речь заходит о личной вине премьера. И проходит она вновь не по привычной линии лагерей, а между теми, кто предан лично Нетаниягу, и всей остальной страной.

Этот раскол рукотворен. Он вырос из культа личности, который годами выстраивали вокруг Нетаниягу: лояльность вождю подменила способность задавать вопросы, а любое несогласие записывается в измену. Так из живой демократии получается лагерь верующих, для которых критика их лидера звучит как святотатство.

Поэтому если 27 октября Нетаниягу проиграет, страна получит не только смену правительства, но и шанс на передышку от бесконечного стравливания. И первая задача следующей власти — собрать нацию, дать людям право сомневаться в своих лидерах, не чувствуя себя предателями, и вернуть доверие, которое нынешняя власть методично разрушала.

I am grateful to all of you who are trying to keep Europe and the United States together.

There are so many people with good hearts in America who sincerely want evil to lose and Ukraine to stand strong. These are the very hearts that helped Europe defend its freedom, and that fought on D-Day, won the Cold War, and want what is best for Europe. Hearts that want to be allies, not to divide or humiliate Europe. I believe most Americans still feel this way. And at the end of the day, the American people will have their say.

Putin will listen to America if America really turns up the heat on him and makes one thing clear – either he chooses peace, or he gets no more money for his war.
