@PacoOnPause@wrath_776 I've been mad about it since I was a kid hearing about my grandfather being sent on the Redline to stay with his aunt for the day with a note pinned to his chest telling people what stop to deliver him to 😆
The rage originated between that story, and Who framed Roger Rabbit
If you started smoking, drinking water with lead, and breathing asbestos today, nothing would happen to you today. Not even in a few weeks or months. Maybe not even a few years.
So, partake freely! If they don't hurt you now, they couldn't possibly hurt you later. Right? RIGHT??
This video is a perfect example of what’s happening in Altadena. National guard & cops with guns out on one side of street - while community organizes mutual aid & resources next to a burnt down house across the way
The state isn’t doing anything here other than a show of force
in a world where having PPE is increasingly necessary, it is incumbent upon all of us to embrace a radical community health approach that values preventative measures
literally look at what it has meant that some folks had masks stocked & ready
@dustindrury @MaskBlocLA Mask bloc HAS been stocking my local library with kid and adult sized quality masks, the children's librarian is amazing there. I love my library!
@we_are_ssd @dustindrury @RedCross Even putting infections aside, the Red Cross did not think respiratory protection was needed in a fire evacuation situation! The air was visibly polluted, and they offered nothing for people to protect themselves.
Urban wildfire smoke is noxious!
Criminally negligent behavior.
@CelticViking19@PardonMyPain@sweepybuns@MayorOfLA Is 95 a bigger number than 0? And is 100 a bigger number than 95? Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. How likely is it that the gov will hand out a p100 elastomeric for every resident in the area?
Better to filter 95% of particles than nothing!
@GurneyReshell@MayorOfLA Vaporized lead, arsenic, asbestos and other toxic chemicals are still a threat in the aftermath of a fire that burnt so many 100 year old houses
@dustindrury They really need to put out guidance about what people are supposed to DO. The leaf blowers are serving a purpose, and that need must be met, I fully support the ban, because, duh, but people need better guidance about what else they are supposed to do.
@DonEford@HKDetwiler The mask donations were, I believe, sourced by a Wayside member, not sure if they have a Twitter handle. I drove out a couple times to load up and was keeping them stacked up in my living room as I tried to get them distributed around the city before the fires sprang up.
Sean is a genuinely amazing, generous, kind, just everything good you could imagine, and his family just lost everything in the Eaton fire. Please spread the word, donate if you can. https://t.co/ecy9q2pT9g
@usashitshow@th236@1goodtern This is why the systemic failure to protect workers only exacerbates the spread of communicable diseases. We need guaranteed sick leave for all workers and a living wage.
Never forget that we had all the scientific evidence we needed to act on global warming over 50 years ago, but the fossil fuel industry spent millions to spread disinformation and block climate action.
Global warming isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime.
They lit up a giant mega cloud of toxic poisonous cancerous Chlorine Gas and said it was safe enough to go to school and work.
And Americans just accepted it.
