@BojimMateo@yungvocaloid tbh bro hes just not doing anything of note for the style of rap hes making. like why listen to him when pz and diamond are (sometimes literally) right there
I think one of the generally bigger problems with the Underground rn isn’t even that they make rage…
It’s that these artists ONLY make rage.
Look at Uzi, he makes rage music, but the bigger and more mainstream songs in his catalog are the melodic ones. Same goes for someone like Carti
Nobody is saying that rage has to be absent from rap, but the star power will always come from melodic rap
I don’t think we’ll ever have another one. There are too many choices and fanbases are too numerous. There’s no “central” rap music culture/scene anymore; rap is now a collection of micro stars who are the flagship artists in their respective scenes.
“Superstar” by the old definition? On the level of a JAY-Z or Eminem?
No one, ever again. That era is over.
How we consume music and media today makes that achievement impossible, not to mention the lack of investment necessary to fuel that rise and maintain that standing.
@servingcookies it’s not even just an ug problem like there’s not a single rapper who blew up post 2020 who can sell more than 50k consistently. the closest are ken, yeat, and bigxthaplug and sentiment around the first two are lukewarm AT BEST and only bigx gets syncs.
