at this point I’ve played professional basketball, I’m a lead in a movie, I’m a New York Times best selling author, own my own haircare brand, and I have platinum songs and albums. I beat the game a long time ago. long enough to know that playing is the reward. can’t wait to keep it goin. the finish line is a facade!!!
Don Toliver started releasing music in 2017. Now he’s headlining MSG on a 30-plus city arena tour. The internet will focus on this moment. But remember this moment took 9 years.
if you’re an up coming artist, you should listen to your gut. but that also comes with taking accountability for YOUR role in why nothing you’re doing is working. being set in your ways when your ways have been tried long enough to realize “there must be a different way” is just ego. lotta times the reward is in the reroute. best of luck 🥂
Any Rapper that chooses to continue to push their pen in this era of anti-intellectualism, brain rot takes, mainstream decline, and Ai music … truly loves this craft.
As a fan, continue to show up for them.
Make sure your support is louder than the dummies tearing them down.
It’s extremely talented ppl around you. Use them! Don’t underestimate or under value them because you’re friends. Ppl tend to trust someone they don’t know more than the folks right there with them.
I love dropping one song at a time cuz the “deep cuts” get the same visibility as singles. Every song gets equally highlighted. Burying songs on an album in today’s day and age feels damn near disrespectful to the time and energy it put into bein able to make the music in the first place.
Hip hop ain’t dead but YOU need to keep it alive!!! It’s bigger than any one person… just do ur part
Maybe 30 mins a day
Look for music
Find music
Share music
No social media recs tho like actually go find it..
And if that’s too much to ask that’s why it’ll die
I manage an artist who in the last 3 months grew 45k followers, reached 65k monthly listeners & had 2 videos hit 1 million on socials without spending any money on ads & while using content he shot w his phone.
Great music, great branding + consistency is all you need to start.

the audience doesn’t know what they want until you give it to them
you can make something different than your usual and they will say “I miss your old stuff”
you can make something that sounds like you’re old stuff and they will say “sounds like your old stuff, no growth”
make what you want
