Three days ago, a 15-yr old boy had an anxiety attack in the school bathroom to hide from his bullies and struggling grades.
His “guidance” counselor pulled him into a room alone and told him to power thru and stop saying he was suicidal for attention even tho he was crying so hard the capillaries in his face were broken. Fun fact: the boy has never been in trouble nor has said this before.
The boy is now in the hospital an hour away from his family due to a real attempt to leave this world.
Because the school would not listen all year nor accommodate his mother’s requests for help and a 504 plan, he felt he had no hope and could not face another day.
The boy is my son. And I’m so angry at the GC in his school I’m frozen. They’re now complying to help with classes and gave him a new counselor.
These new accommodations are not enough. Our story isn’t rare. Schools need to wake up and make some real changes.
Hi! This is a reminder to check in on your healthcare worker pals. We are not okay. We are struggling, but we’re still doing our best to show up. Don’t forget to be kind to the HCWs you encounter, too🫶🏽
Just used Mark Cubans new pharmacy because I’m currently uninsured… 30 day supply of three medications was only $35. It would have been $200+ at a regular pharmacy

Not our healthcare system hemorrhaging on the verge of collapse, and not me, a nurse, being sent home today with no communication prior, out of work for a week (with NO PAY), because my employer cannot accommodate modified work for me and my sprained ankle.
This week at @CHEO, I got to work alongside the orthopaedic surgeon that operated on my knee (ACL/MCL/meniscus repair) in the orthopaedic clinic that supported me throughout my challenging recovery. This was the journey that made me choose healthcare. Thank you, Dr. Jarvis! 💜
A fond farewell as @CHEO Team Brewer hosts their last huddle in the arena. Laughs, awards, a song & a COVID piñata! Over two years this team delivered for #Ottawa with over 180,000 swabs done with care & compassion. Special thanks to several generations of leaders & Dr Ken Farion
