To the man who left his Afrikan country to go live in Arab nations to work,
Here is my unsolicited advice:
Don't send money to your relatives back home. Save that money.
Don't task your relatives to set up a business, or buy land or build a house for you, because you will gnash your teeth in poverty. β They will fleece you.
Don't listen to financial advice from your siblings. Most of the time, they are misleading you so that they can steal your money.
Don't be tricked into sending your siblings to withdraw your money just because they told you there is a good deal somewhere.
I know you want to return to Africa and continue living among your blood, but don't fall for the get-rich-quick ideas your siblings and relatives are selling to you.
Remember, you are living in a country that has stringent laws. Some of you live in shared hostels just to save the extra coin.
You are sacrificing yourself in a foreign country to secure a better future; therefore, don't be gullible.
"Bro, there is this business idea."
"Bro, if you can buy a car, I can run an ΓΌber for you."
"Bro, there is an excellent FH Lorry. If you buy the lorry, I can manage its transport business for you."
No. Don't accept.
Don't fall for these ideas. You will lose your money.
Save your money and invest according to your goals.
If you return to your country and get broke, your relatives will be the first to mock you.
"Look, he went to Qatar and came back with nothing. He is a fool!"
β Yet, you diligently sent them money whenever there was a problem back home.
Protect your earnings!

My advice as an economist: Please forget the idea of economic solutions for now. We are deep in the red of Political Economy. No amount of economic policy will get us out of this mess. We need a political solution for the economy to respond. I'm sorry but it's the truth.
Freedom of Movement has been effectively curtailed in Kenya.
William Ruto is now in open violation of Article 39 of the Constitution, barricading roads, sealing towns, and deploying police to cage a population he fears.
This regime is no longer governing , it is hiding behind uniforms and barriers.
When a government turns public roads into checkpoints and cities into war zones, it is no longer serving its citizens it is defending itself from them.
Ruto fears the people.
And that fear is the clearest sign that his legitimacy has collapsed.
