A lot of you never held any leadership role prior to marriage. Not your offices, not in associations you belong to, not even headboy of your primary school, so marriage is the one place you finally get to be the local champion leader you’ve been having wet dreams about.
Pathetic
I grew up extremely slim and I'm still quite slim so I guess I can talk about it.
Slim people are body shamed, extensively and hurtfully.
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a wedding with my classmate. While we were there, he introduced me to his aunt and the woman told him in Yoruba that she hoped I was not his girlfriend because my "neck was dry".
She assumed that I wouldn't understand what she said and that made it all the more hurtful.
As a child, people used to ask if my parents were starving me. Random strangers would walk up to me, wrap their hands around my wrists and comment on how thin I was. People would tell me that I wouldn't find a husband because men don't want bones.
Two truths can coexist. Fat people are body shamed and thin people are body shamed. None is more hurtful than the other. None is pleasant. None should be dismissed.
if anyone’s ever interacted with any muslim child during ramadhan, you’ll find that their parents are trying to convince them NOT to fast, but the kids do half fasts out of their own choice. and may Allah reward them for their efforts.
Is it just me or does it happen with you guys as well that if you’re reciting Quran and you read a word incorrectly, your brain just doesn’t let you go ahead without correcting it.
Surely cannot be only me??!
Me: Applies cleanser , waits for two mins
Applies toner, waits for two mins
Applies serum, naiciamide , moisturizer and sun screen . Waits for two mins in between.
My African mother watching…
There’s a TikTok girl being held in Guinea Conakry simply because she’s touring African countries.
About 80% of African countries are unsafe to tour, anything can happen to you, and no one will save you!
The most accurate metaphor for gender violence statistics. Bus full of empty seats but he will sit exactly beside her and then say he’s a victim protecting himself from women, and the men who tweet in defence don’t even bother noticing the empty seats the rest of us can see.
