the people who should be building
get drowned out

the people who should be leading
get overlooked

and the ones optimised for noise

that’s why everything feels squeezed

economically
socially
mentally

people aren’t just tired

they feel like there’s no real upside anymore

like the system takes more than it gives

and when that becomes the baseline

nihilism becomes rational

“we’re all going to die anyway”
“just focus on yourself”

but that mindset is exactly what keeps the system stuck

because nothing meaningful gets built

i used to think it was paranoia

but when you zoom out now

it starts to sound less like fear
and more like observation

because economically

we’ve moved away from building real value

towards extracting it

platforms extract attention
systems extract labour
markets extract liquidity

everything is optimised for taking
not creating

politically

you can feel the shift

policies become more protective
more selective
more focused on control than expansion

not necessarily loud

but gradual

socially

trust is declining

people are less rooted
less connected
more transactional

relationships feel temporary
opportunities feel conditional

and when a society becomes more extractive than generative

it naturally starts deciding

who is worth keeping
and who isn’t

not emotionally

but structurally

based on value, leverage, positioning
