@CrimeWeeklyPod If they really want to know what happened that night, all they have to do is send the shirt with the blood to the FBI. The FBI will do a DNA testing of all the blood deposits on that shirt and if any other DNA appears the prosecution is lying about this case.

@KarynLisk The cells would still be damaged by the freezing temperatures. While it wouldn't behave exactly like frostbite on living tissue, the fluids in the cells could still freeze and expand causing significant damage. You can see that under a microscope, which is part of the autopsy.
