I think this issue is being overreacted to.

Personally I don't think Neves was diminishing Ronaldo.

He was making a point about collective responsibility after a game where Portugal underperformed as a team.

"He's no different from us, he's here to help like all of us" is the kind of thing players say all the time to deflect pressure off one individual and onto the group.

What of if Neves was protecting Ronaldo from being scapegoated than disrespecting him.
