I have some exciting news to share!
I'm starting a 30-day writing challenge, posting short stories and poems.
I'm excited to see the growth this consistency brings.
I look forward to this journey, the growth and consistency also.
I hope you'll join me on this path 📖
I have put many Web3 Games down faster than I picked them up
And believe me, I pick up games very fast.
In this read, I would outline 3 Major Reasons why I think Web3 Games suck.
(PS: Image says "gaming" but its an error haha)
Being a guy who loves games, I do my best to play them genuinely. And it is very disappointing when I find more shit than real stuff.
Reason 1: Poor Game Quality
I've seen many gud creators write that the reason why people will play your game is because it is fun and entertaining.
This is something that cannot be overemphasized. The game is primarily good because of the overall gaming experience.
I have encountered many web3 games with mid gameplay, bad mechanics, terrible graphics, shitty controls or just plain boring. I drop them faster than lightning.
There is also a Web3 game I once played that everything was confusing. No tutorials, game objective was unknown, and I didn't know where to click.
I'm a Gamer and that was a bad one time experience for me. The game left my storage disk very fast.
Reason 2: Sustainability Model
The average Web3 Game depends largely on external investments and reward system for their game to be played instead of actual long-term player engagement.
Funnily enough, this has been seen over and over again in the Web3 Gaming space.
It would seem like a game is the talk of the space, but if you dive deeper, you would see its simply because it has a reward system like refs, yapping or airdrop.
What we almost always see afterwards is that when the reward well dries up, all the players vanish and all that are left are the dev's family members.
I am not against rewarding your players; but you ALSO need to give them a reason to stay when the rewards are gone.
Reason 3: Money Grubbing
Believe it or not, I once played a game that with each place you click, you are prompted to buy the pass. And they called themselves a F2P game.
Now, I'm not against the fact that the game creators have to make money; just remove the F2P tag and we'll pay to download. Then everyone is happy.
Conclusively, all I'm trying to say can be summarized in a quick TL;DR:
- Make gud games
- Prioritize your players
- Don't try to milk them
Do you have other reasons why you think Web3 Games suck? Let's hear them in the comments. 👇
