"It’s been so much fun getting to understand how he sees the game."
The early vibes are high between Justin Herbert and Mike McDaniel.

Justin Herbert has not thrown a football during the media-viewing period today.
He was working with a green weighted ball, going through throwing motions during individuals and has only done hand offs and pitches during the team period.
Trey Lance and DJ Uiagalelei have taken all quarterback throwing reps.
Chargers RT Joe Alt says he is “full go” in ankle rehab and getting more reps in practice “every single day”
Alt says he hasn’t spoken to the training staff on training camp participation yet but, “doesn’t expect it to be a problem”
Chargers offensive line blocking for Justin Herbert right now.
LT: Rashawn Slater
LG: Kayode Awosika
C: Tyler Biadasz
RG: Cole Strange
RT: Joe Alt
Jake slaughter was in at left guard with the next group blocking for Trey Lance
Trevor penning rotated in at right guard with the group blocking for DJ Uiagalelei, Slaughter played center with that group
Some notes from practice today:
Justin Herbert didn’t throw
No Rashawn Slater in team drills, Branson Taylor at LT
Nadame Tucker looked great matched up against Taylor
DJ Uiagalelei had the throw of the day; a deep ball over Derwin James and into the arms of WR JaQuae Jackson
Rashawn Slater: “I’ve been here since 2021, still haven’t had a playoff win … it’s time for us go get it. There’s nothing stopping us. There’s nothing in our way.”
Chargers QB Justin Herbert on having HC Jim Harbaugh's support for his trip to Europe with Madison Beer:
"He's the man. To have his support, that's why everyone supports him. He's done such a great job with all his teammates, all the players that he coaches. That's why everyone loves him."
Herbert said Europe was fun and that he appeciated the buildings in France.
"It was just different. It was just cool to see. Definitely something you dont see very often over here. It was just cool to see different experiences."
Chargers LT Rashawn Slater on OC Mike McDaniel's outside zone scheme: "I just think outside zone's fun. Honestly if you're an offensive lineman, the rules are to just get off and go destroy everything in your path."
"If that doesn't sound fun, you might not be a lineman."
Justin Herbert said not throwing Tuesday is likely something he’ll do once a week for the next few weeks, using a day to focus on footwork.
Herbert said it was a good opportunity to work on that part of his game, an offseason emphasis under new OC Mike McDaniel, without having to worry about throwing
Justin Herbert said Mike McDaniel put together a presentation featuring a few hundred plays from Herbert’s career and McDaniel’s previous offenses, showing how certain concepts could have been executed differently.
“It was a well-put-together presentation that I really saw the vision, and it meant a lot to me,” Herbert said.
