BUDDY (NARRATOR): And I may not know for certain how long this heart has, but I know that if it were to stop right this moment, with my family assembled before me, with the love of my life at my side, well... that might be an end that I could tolerate.
BUDDY (NARRATOR): I think about the fiery-eyed starlet I used to be, so certain that her every flaw and shortcoming could be wiped away if only she worked hard enough, if only she was good enough. I miss that girl now. I would tell her to be kinder to herself, if I could.
JET (NARRATION): And so I must loosen my grip, and I must fall... and I must trust in the world as I know it to be.
And I know that the Ruby 7 and I can complete the maneuver. We have done so before. We will do so again.
JUNO (NARRATOR): And if I'd learned one thing over and over again, it was this: if something's too scary to do alone, then guess what? You don't do it alone.
JET: You will do something else that is good. It will not be better than the suffering we've caused. But it will be good, and that must be enough. It is all we have.
BUDDY: We must be careful not to fall too far out of date on the story about ourselves which we tell ourselves. It leaves you flinching from blows that never come -- and blind to those that do.
