Millions are stuck in flats they cannot sell or remortgage because the Government hasn't fixed the #BuildingSafetyCrisis
❌ Lenders won't lend
❌ Insurers are making huge profits
❌ Leaseholders are going bankrupt
#EndOurCladdingScandal
Nearly 3500 high rise blocks have applied to the government’s Building Safety Fund for money to remove cladding. @itvnews has learnt that work’s started on only 7% of those blocks & has been completed on 26 buildings.More than 912 have been rejected/ineligible. Full story at 7pm.
@wharfgirl@team_greenhalgh@LondonLabour@SadiqKhan@MoliorLondon@BorisJohnson What about the leasehold scandal, Minister? I am by no means a @SadiqKhan cheerleader but I know that confidence in the flats market in this country has been trashed by the cladding crisis. Buyers terrified of spiraling service charges and corrupt freeholders. Commonhold, please!
The Bill also makes no mention of the extortionate insurance premiums my constituents are facing. Leaseholders are being taken advantage of by insurance companies who have spotted the opportunity to hike their profit. 2/3
As the Building Safety Bill entered its final stages today, the Govt has failed innocent leaseholders once again by choosing not to protect them from ALL of the costs of making blocks safe. 1/3
Proud to have spoken at #BuildingSafetyCrisis rally at Parliament. Impressive array of MPs & councillors from all parties & none, but mainly inspiring grassroots activists ensuring @HouseofCommons & @UKHouseofLords don't imagine new legislation is end but just new phase of fight
Cancelled a shoot on the 20th to be there. I never cancel a shoot. Never... That shows how important I think it is that we go and make our voices heard.
We must be loud and we must not let the government water down the help needed for ALL leaseholders.
❌ “Realistically there is no option but to sign,” the boss of one developer said this week.
✅ "Realistically there is no option but to do the right thing", all leaseholders have been saying for years

Great to see this motion from Father of the House @PBottomleyMP. In Feb, @FloEshalomi heard from @InsuranceJamesD that insurance commissions to freeholders and managing agents need to be tackled to bring down leaseholder costs. Please get your MP to sign! https://t.co/K4w0nE1HL4
@PeteApps@JSimpsonjourno Govt needs to clarify what the situation is for those leaseholders who exceed the de minimis state aid threshold for BSF of 325k SDRs. 'No leaseholder will pay a penny' doesn't match reality where deductions are made to funding awarded by the amount any lhders exceed this.
