Bizarre experience at @LBofBromley. Councillors prayed to God to give them wisdom to make the right decisions.
Then Colin Smith,CEO Adetosoye& @MayorofBromley0 said, who cares if we signed off your block with no fire breaks, we'll keep the £1 mil tax you've paid on flats worth £0.
And what did Labour do? Invited them to no.11 to discuss investing in the UK. Trapping hundreds of leaseholders and yet get a seat around the top table. Incredibly disappointing. @mhclg@SteveReedMP@SamanthaDixonMP
Unfortunately this just isn't happening. My building was one of the first to have an RO. Yet we are still trapped as @railpen keep £200k charges on our accounts. You may have a remediated building and yet STILL be unable to move
The Grenfell tower is being dismantled. Thousands of buildings have yet to be assessed, let alone fixed, and the ongoing building safety crisis continues to impact millions of leaseholders, shared owners & tenants.
But building safety is no longer on the agenda.
Barely a month ago this man was imprisoned for the violent rape of a Sikh woman believing that she was a Muslim. No Douglas Murray articles in the Spectator, no Baroness Fox speech in the Lords. No riots. Two tier? Too right https://t.co/8wABWe3bww
Serious Question: Why are leaseholders being asked to underwrite the cost of structural repairs to ANY building when they do not own a single brick in it? https://t.co/Xa0mTqtSZ2
Today the scaffolding started going up for our cladding remediation. 5 years after we submitted to the Building Safety Fund and 18 months after submitting to the Building Safety Regulator. My son wasn't born when we first submitted and now he's at school. @EOCS_Official@ukcag
@HarryScoffin Politicians are guilty as charged. The political establishment lives in plush country homes, too removed to genuinely care about the plight of leaseholders. They gave ammo to MAs to plunder further under cover of fire safety. Whole system is messed up. 40 year wait a joke.
There is a looming retirement crisis hidden within the leasehold system. Many people who believed they were securing a home for later life may instead find themselves trapped by rising service charges, insurance costs and major works bills. As pension incomes struggle to keep pace, increasing numbers could face impossible choices between basic living costs and keeping their home. Housing security means little if the ongoing charges become unaffordable. Many will discover that paying off the mortgage was only part of the affordability question.
The anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy is coming up. So many people I speak to don't realise there are still SO MANY unsafe buildings. It is beyond belief that successive governments have failed to get a grip on a national scandal #endourcladdingscandal

This is a point which gets lost too easily. Leasehold means you 'buy' property that remains someone else's.
It isn't yours.
You don't own it, but you're still liable for repairs and maintenance and 'service charges'.
On someone else's property.
Racket from top to bottom.
The managing agent for the block where I am both a leaseholder and freeholder (enfranchised) just told us they would charge us extra if we didn’t use their in house insurance broker 😂
It’s like when an estate agent has a deal with a particular conveyancer and tries to funnel them business
Egregious
Leasehold reform is great but managing agents are going to be the next scandal !
Are any leaseholders in my network ok with being interviewed/recording themselves on video for a social media campaign re the building safety crisis? 📢
