My linguist brother in law identified this as handwritten #Yiddish -- now to find someone who can read it. A kind person in a group of 19th century sewing enthusiasts is helping now.

Farsi and Arabic ruled out. Pitman shorthand still in the running. Greek? Code? Backwards English eliminated (mostly).
