Latvia condemns the Russian drone strike on an apartment building in Galați, Romania, injuring two people. I wish speedy recovery to the injured. Latvia stands in full solidarity with our ally Romania and is prepared to support appropriate measures to prevent such violations.
We strongly condemn Russia’s unfounded and irresponsible accusations and threats directed at Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. These false narratives and unjustified threats are unacceptable and serve only to spread intimidation and disinformation. We stand in full solidarity with the Baltic states in the face of Russia’s coercion.
Russia’s war is failing. That is why the Kremlin spreads hostile disinformation about the Baltic states.
At today’s @NATO Foreign Ministers meeting, I thanked our allies for the support. Together, we are strengthening counter-drone capabilities and defence of the Eastern Flank.
Montenegro strongly condemns Russia’s unacceptable threats, intimidation, and hybrid warfare tactics directed against the Baltic States. The provocations targeting Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania are not isolated incidents-they represent a direct threat to European and Euro-Atlantic security and to the fundamental principles upon which peace and stability in Europe are built. Through such aggressive and destabilizing behaviour, Russia is further endangering peace and stability across Europe.
As a proud NATO Ally, Montenegro stands in full solidarity with Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, reaffirming that the security of the Baltic region is inseparable from the security of the entire Alliance. Any attempt to undermine the sovereignty, stability, or democratic resilience of Allied nations is unacceptable and will be met with unity and resolve.
Montenegro remains firmly aligned with the European Union and fully committed to safeguarding long-term peace, stability, and security across Europe.
Prime Minister Robert Golob: My strong support and solidarity go to 🇱🇻 Prime Minister @EvikaSilina against the ongoing Russian disinformation campaign targeting 🇱🇻 and other Baltic States and open Russian threats to use force against them. Any threats against 🇪🇺 Member States are unacceptable and
🇪🇺 will stand strong and united against them. @SLOinBaltics
During a conversation, I thanked @SecGenNATO for his strong stance against Russian lies and threats, and expressed appreciation to NATO for the Allies’ support and capabilities. We also discussed additional steps to strengthen air defence in Latvia and the Baltic states.
“Russian claim is totally ridiculous. And Russia knows it” - @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte on RU recent claim that Latvia is giving its territory to Ukraine to launch drone attacks on RU and that NATO membership will not protect LV from the possible retaliation by Russia.
#WeAreNATO
❗️Russia lies again❗️This time it is SVR or the External Intelligence Service running a disinformation campaign against Latvia.
✅FACT: Latvia does NOT provide airspace for attacks on Russia. That has been explained several times to Russian representatives.
I met with the President of Latvia, @EdgarsRinkevics. Security cooperation was our main focus. We count on signing an agreement with Latvia in the Drone Deal format to build a multi-layered air defense system against different types of threats. I proposed this cooperation to the President. We will send our experts to Latvia to exchange experience and provide direct assistance in protecting the airspace. It is important to work together to strengthen Europe’s defense.
We also discussed the overall security situation in the region. The initial cause of all challenges and threats is Russia and its aggression. I am grateful that we share a common position on this.
Special attention was given to diplomatic work and Ukraine’s European integration. It is important to open all negotiation clusters as soon as possible, and there are now favorable conditions for this. Latvia consistently supports us in this regard, and I am grateful for it.
As always great to meet @ZelenskyyUa. We agreed to work out a long term defence cooperation agreement between Latvia and Ukraine. I reiterated full support for early opening of the first chapter of EU-Ukraine accession talks. Europe needs Ukraine more than ever 🇱🇻 🇺🇦
Congratulations to Anita Orbán @_OrbanAnita on assuming responsibilities of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary.
I look forward to strengthening our bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in the EU and NATO. 🇱🇻🇭🇺
Ārlietu ministre @Braze_Baiba:
