People change. I have been on this journey with people, and they acquire new habits and new friends. They start asking why you are not pulling your weight, even though you spent most of your time helping them "gain weight." Never pin your success on people; just be happy for them.
This is the thing that still blows my mind about Nigeria. People will quietly be making a killing amid chaos. Someone came to us to look for dollars many years ago and we discovered he was doing profit (not revenue) of $1.5m monthly.
I told my banker friend and he said it was a lie until they started seeing Opay numbers. There is money in Nigeria and it is widely dispersed. There is just not enough profit until you aggregate efficiently.
The problem with dysfunction and lack of structure is that it makes aggregation hard but those who make it possible in spite of constraints end up creating monopolies that they protect by retaining the dysfunction. It is why Agberos won't leave easily and public transportation remains a mess.
When I saw airtime volumes of 65 billion Naira a day, it made me understand that those who build infrastructure for aggregation in Nigeria without extortion hampering them will always win. The problem is that extortion is also a viable business model at scale.
so.....what does one do when they no longer want to work in the field they got a specialized degree in and they have no idea what they want to do in life and theyre 29 🥲 asking for a friend
