Kat, your dad stood by you through cancer and then was gone a month ago. That’s not a pity party. That’s grief.

The idea that being there for your son means pretending you’re fine is backwards. Kids don’t learn strength from watching adults suppress pain. They learn it from watching adults face pain honestly and keep moving forward.

You’re showing that grief, love, loss, and resilience can exist at the same time. More people should be able to talk openly about those experiences without being shamed for it.
