A young man (@richone090) who has invested his time, energy and resources campaigning for and promoting the NDC and its candidates was recently arrested by @OfficialDSSNG in Lagos for simply waving the NDC flag on the street.

He wasn't holding a gun, he was holding a FLAG.

No one should be intimidated for exercising their democratic right to peacefully support and campaign for a candidate or party of their choice.

Intimidation and suppression of the opposition in Nigeria must not be normalized. It is abnormal and must be condemned in toto.

Mr. Rilwan Olawale @richone090 was arrested around 1:00 AM this morning by men who only identified themselves as DSS officers.

No one has heard from Olawale since then.

His only "offense" was campaigning for Mr. Peter Obi in Lagos State & waving the NDC flag.

Why is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu using state institutions to intimidate & harass Nigerians? What are they afraid of? The @OfficialDSSNG & the government owe Nigerians immediate answers regarding Olawale’s whereabouts.

Targeting members of the opposition will do nothing but destroy the demoCrazy in Nigeria. He is not a criminal, & support for Tinubu is not mandatory. Supporting Peter Obi is not a crime.

This should never happen in 2026. Ola must be freed & reunited with his family immediately.

The arrest of this young man by the DSS simply for mobilizing support for Peter Obi is shameful.

Peaceful political campaigning is not a crime. Carrying an NDC flag and urging people to support a candidate ahead of 2027 is a constitutional right, not a security threat.

When the DSS is deployed against young Nigerians for supporting Peter Obi instead of focusing on real threats like banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, it sends a clear message: the state is more interested in silencing political opposition than protecting citizens.

This is intimidation, not law enforcement. Democracy dies when supporting a candidate becomes grounds for arrest.

Release him immediately. Nigerians will not be cowed.
