On Friday, 18 September 2026, I filed a Senate Notice of Motion under Standing Order 101(1) seeking to censure President William Samoei Ruto over a recurring practice of governing through oral and roadside declarations instead of constitutional, statutory and parliamentary processes.
The Motion centres on Article 135, which requires presidential decisions in the performance of constitutional functions to be in writing, sealed and signed. It argues that while the President may speak publicly, express opinions and announce policy intentions, such utterances cannot substitute for formal legal instruments where the Constitution or statute requires one.

I have been suspended from the @Senate_KE for three sitting days for REFUSING to withdraw the word “yapping” in describing the President’s ROADSIDE declaration on undocumented immigrants.

I respect the Chair, but I will not surrender the constitutional duty to speak truth to power.

Article 135 requires PRESIDENTIAL decisions made under the Constitution to be in WRITING , SEALED and SIGNED. A roadside utterance cannot acquire the force of law simply because it comes from the President.

If calling out UNCONSTITUTIONAL governance is punishable, then the greater danger is not the word “yapping”. It is the growing intolerance for accountability.

He says Uhuru killed people, aka what is more important to discuss is the identity of the president who ordered the killings than the ordinary people who were killed by the state.

It's a very elitist argument: leaders matter more than the lives or ordinary people.

And after minimizing killing, he says that he doesn't justify any killing.

And of course, he's not going to say that if Kenyatta 1 did it, if Moi did it, if Kibaki did it, if Kenyatta 2 did it, and Ruto did it, like the colonialists did it before 1963, then it doesn't matter who is president. People will die. The problem is the system, and it needs to be uprooted, and politicians are blocking us from doing it by confusing us with cognitive dissonance. The Kenyan elites don't want us thinking at the level of systems. Neither does mainstream media. That's why they call that level of discussion "theory without solutions." And tell us that it's more important to "fix the narion." They must keep us talking of personalities and technical problems because Africans are too stupid to think systemically.

It's cognitive dissonance.

I'm worried less about politicians being stupid, and more what junk like this does to our minds. It's not mentally healthy to be subjected to so much violence through language. It distorts the mind and destroys the soul. It makes us develop a dysfunctional relationship to reality. This is what Durkheim called "social anomie."

This political culture is directly connected to hedonism and self-destructive behavior like addiction. Because our minds are so destabilized by this swinging between polar opposites in public life, people look for something that makes life look constant. Increasing dopamine hits is a false solution to that.

This is why I said some time back that if parents care for the sanity of their children, they need to start refusing this public performance or nonsense. And let's not shout at the radio and TV if our child is present when this nonsense is broadcasted. Instead, calmly explain to your child why what politicians are saying is nonsense. Tell them Kenya's history. Your kids will behave bored, but don't worry: they're hearing you. What you're saying is being lodged in their minds.

It's working because Kenya has the pre-existing conditions of love for white supremacy, adoration of liberalism and a deeply ingrained anti-intellectualism.
