🚨TRAGIC: Maryam Yarmohammadi, a 28-year-old mother of two, was stabbed to death by her brother on Qeshm Island in Iran on 5 October 2026 in a killing described as an honor crime.

Rights groups Hengaw and IranWire report that her brother repeatedly stabbed her in the neck, breasts, and genitals. He stood over her until she bled to death, then took her body to the hospital. Her husband is reported to have helped by taking their children out of the house so the brother could enter. Both men were arrested. Family members gathered at the hospital and protested the arrests, saying they had no complaint and that death was the least punishment she deserved. Under Iranian law, the male guardian—her father—can forgive the killers, which ends the case.

Yarmohammadi was originally from Kargan village in Delfan County, Lorestan Province. She was a housewife. No further details of any alleged motive beyond “honor” have been confirmed in the reports. A video of her burial, attended only by men, is circulating. In Iran, once the family forgives, there is usually no further prosecution.

She was 28. She had two small children. Her brother killed her.
